Ok guys, I was told by a motorcycle"technician" that supposedly the first oil change is very crucial to her! That it needs to be done pretty much right away.. I only have like 700 miles on her. I got it spankin new. Is this true? And if so what brand and how much oil is there to get? Thankx a million fellows!!!

all that info is in your owner's manual. it's a small book and you really should take a night to read it. BTW when you do your oil change be sure to also buy a new "crush-ring washer" for the oil drain plug. this needs to be replaced every time you drain your oil. cheers, Terry

Yep that's really important. I'm not an engineer but understand when they manufacture the motor the process leaves machine ridges on the inside of the cylinders which the piston rings will wear away and bed in during the runing in process to form a tight seal. This together with all the other friction surfaces will bed in and result in metal particles of swarf being produced and carried in the oil and into the filter. Then it's important to replace the oil and filter to get all this swarf out of the engine so it does not cause any damage. So get it done soon. Regards from Durban RSA.
