Dealer did the oil change now I am just changing after the winter but the filter will not budge. So I am thinking that the dealer over torqued or didn't use oil on the rubber gasket. I have tried everything short of putting a screwdriver through it but I think that will only tear the top portion of the filter off.

Any suggestions before I go argue with the dealer?

rubber strap wrench and get down as close as you can near the base. Good luck!

I'll admit I'm ghetto and have used a screwdriver over a dozen times and on multiple vehicles ( I know I shouldn't but I finally just picked up a filter wrench). I guarantee you if you go in and out the other side without touching the oil nozzle, the filter won't tear apart. I don't necessarily endorse using a screwdriver, but it'll work just fine.

The manual calls for 12 ft/lb torque. But, in reality, that's just about the same as a good, solid hand tight (though that would vary with a person's strength).
