For the filter, I just use WalMart SuperTech ST7317 (3.25 in long - Found at Wal-Mart and can be had for around $2. Easily the best value if price is a concern.)

For oil, i use Mobil Clean 5000 10w-40. I will probably go Amsoil next year but I've read that you should not put synthetic in until your 2nd or 3rd oil change.

I also use the supertech ST7317 don't let the walmart brand fool you its one of the best filters you can get I run supertech filters in all my toys and vehicles.

Agree, some will say different but filters are only made by a select few Manu. Different specs but basically the same.
As for Syn. first oil change for me, Mobil 1 10W40 (NON ENERGY CONSERVING)

I use the Purolator PL14610. The exact cross-reference would be the PL14612 but the 610 is a bit longer and therefore has more filtration media. Purolators are some of the best filters on the market as far as construction and filtration quality and they're only $6 at Advanced Auto Parts.

I use the same longer filter and have always used purolator.
