So i was changing my oil and wasn't paying close enough attention to which drain plug i was removing. Turns out with was the 12mm plug that's a few inches in front of the 17mm oil drain plug. I realized what i had done once it finished draining in only 5-10 seconds. I went ahead and put that plug back in and finished my oil change. I suspected it may simply be another oil drain plug so I pulled that plug again after i topped the bikes fresh oil off and sure enough more oil started coming out again so i'm confident it's just a separate drain for oil. Can anyone confirm this before i fire her up?

Don't know as though any one here has had their engine torn down to see what that Bolt/Plug is for.

I was correct. Looks like its just the drain to get the last bit of oil out of the transmission. I fired her up and road her... everything is perfect. 8)
That is very interesting because if you are changing your oil don't you want to remove all the oil especially if it shares it with the transmission? It's funny how the book gives 2 different oil fill quantities one when you change the filter one with out changing the filter? Has anybody changed the oil without changing the filter? Seems like a no brainer to me!

It's not uncommon for a motorcycle to have multiple oil drain plugs to get the oil that settles in areas other than the main pan. Heck my Yamaha yz426f had three separate drain locations for the oil. The amount of oil that came out of the other drain plug was very little...i think it's probably just used to drain it off completely before you split the cases to do some major engine work.
