I finally broke down and ordered me the Yamaha Star 17 inch quick release chrome windshield & mounts off of E-bay today. I went to my dealer this morning and they wanted almost $600 for the windshield and mounts. I got both off of E-bay for $493 with free shipping. Kinda of a no-brainer. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can finally stop eating bugs. I'll have some updated pics when I get it installed.

If you guys look in the gallery, I posted pics of my reddish-copper with the quick disconnect 17" factory windshield. Venjurak, that price seems kinda steep from the dealer, that was definitely MSRP!!! I always ask for the 15% off (which before taxes on the shield & mount comes to $463) that I always see at Cucamonga (sp?) Yamaha out in California. Give a shot, maybe your dealership would rather make a deal than lose your business. If not, EBay all the way!!! BTW, you will enjoy the shield, it makes a world of difference!!! I'm considering buying the 22" one just for those longer highway-riddled trips!

I got my windshield in the other night. Installation went very smoothly. I like the look of it. Deflects the windblast from my chest area very well. I still get some wind in my face and I have some light buffeting on my head but it's much better than hanging on for dear life at 70mph. (If I wanted no wind on my face, I would drive a car) One miscalculation I made though. I forgot to take into account my wife sitting on back. The wind now defelcts up and over me but right in her face. DOH! In hindsight, I probably should have gotten the 22 inch one to help deflect the wind over her as well.
