Here are some other options for Oil Filters for the '11 Stryker.
These filters do cost a bit more, and I prefer the Bosch :)

Bosch: D3323
Purolator Pure One: PL14610
Mobil One: M1-110

Almost every bike and quad from Japan use that filter. Here's a website that shows a cross-refernce to auto filters. In some cases you can get a "longer" filter so you have more filter media working for you.

The PL14612 has more media and is about the same price as the 14610. I've been running this filter on my bikes and quads for years now.

another one to get is the walmart brand super tech st7317. And I know people will be saying blah blah its walmart brand and its junk but nope the super tech filters are real good filters they are mobil 1 filters rebranded they are made by champion the same company that makes the mobil 1 filters and they are only 3 bucks vs the 10 bucks for the mobil 1. I use this same filter on my polaris atv. So save your money its the longer filter for more protection or if you want to use a filter the same size as the yamaha filter then get the ST6607.

I use the Yamalube 20w-50 and yamaha oil filter and follow the service manual on all maintenance intervals. May cost a bit more. and i know if i used something else and had a problem they really couldn't say much due to the laws of warranty. but if its yamaha bike with yamaha filter and yamaha oil and my engine has an issue then they really cant say much.

I use Mobile1 15W-50 synthetic and a FRAM Superguard filter. Just did my 600 mile change this morning. I did my first oil change at 50 miles after doing a hard break-in just to get the metal flakes out.

BigDaddyTX-Where at in Texas are you? I'm in San Antonio. Your right, this heat is brutal. Especially the last two weeks.

there using mobil 1 synthetic motorcycle oil. I put in 20w-50 synthetic a month ago because of the real warm temperatures we are having and really didn't like the feel of the bike not as peppy so last week I just put in some valvoline 10w-40 regular motorcycle oil (3 bucks a quart) and its back to its peppy self. I can't explain why it feels different but there is a noticeable difference. I'm planning on changing my oil every 2 to 3000 miles from now on so synthetic isn't needed so i'll be sticking with the regular dino oil from now on if your going to run the bike longer without oil changes say 5000 or more then you'll benefit from synthetic.

Has anybody ever gotten that reusable oil filter? There is one on eBay for like $94. I was going to get one for my last bike but wasn't planning in keeping the bike for very long. Seems like it would be a good investment if you're going to change the oil every 3-4k.

These filters will fit the V Star 1300. Listed in order of recommended preference based on the Motorcycle Oil Filter
Cross Reference.
Amsoil EAOM-103 (The only filter that filters to 15 microns absolute, 5 microns partially)
Amsoil EAOM-103C (Chrome)
Purolator PL14610 (3.25 in long - Can be found at PepBoys)
Purolator PL14612 (2.5 in long)
Mobil 1 M1-110 (3.25 in long - Can be found at PepBoys, however sometimes may need to ask an associate as it may
not be on the shelf)
Mobil 1 M1-108 (2.5 in long)
Bosch 3323 (3.25 in long)
K&N 303 This is spec'd for the XVZ Royal Star, Stratoliner, and Road Stars. My dealer provided this when asked for a
filter. It's great because of the 17mm nut on the end that allows removal with the same wrench used for draining the
oil. K& N 147 is the spec for the XVS1300 but the 303 is larger capacity.
WalMart SuperTech ST7317 (3.25 in long - Found at Wal-Mart and can be had for around $2. Easily the best value if
price is a concern.)
Purolator Premium L14612
Yamaha OEM 5DM-13440-00

I know this is an old post but after reviewing the list specifically puralator I noticed the listed 14610. This is not a motorcycle fiter and puralator themselves suggest not to use the car filter on a motorcycle because of back pressure issues. I would'nt take whoever tested these filters word over the manufcturer. BTW I do use 14610 and 14612 on my Infiniti G35 but a motorcycle specific puralotor oi filter on my sportbike, still searching for one for the stryker as I just paid for my last oil change on my stryker (1K mile service).
