I think I saw some mention of this but has anyone posted the steps for doing this myself or would I be better off having a body shop do it. Im not too sure of my painting skills. Or is there replacement parts yet for some of the chrome in the black.

No don't pay for this easy of a mod. Very simple to do just take your time. Remember the better prep you do, the better the finished product will be.

Found this

Read from beginning, good start. I followed this one but could not find the flexible plastic primer (from napa) he used.

I used this primer and paint and was very happy with results.

An easy way to test if you will need an adhesion promoter for plastics is to take a small, non-visible, place and cut a small piece the size of a finger nail clipping.

Take that piece and put it into a glass of water, if it sinks easily and stays down, you can paint WITHOUT any promoters. If the piece won't sink or keeps floating back up, there are to many oils/solvents trapped in the plastic, and will require the use of the promoter.

I did not test all the pieces, but all the ones I did sank straight down. They were all the same kind of ABS plastic I believe.
