I have a blue and black full face helmet from my last bike that i still wear. is there any issue with painting the helmet a flat black that anyone can think of ?

Paint it with chalkboard paint......its awesome!

Because its durable and looks great, plus you can draw on it.
Yes, I painted my Nolan with it and it has lasted a while.
