This might sound like a dumb question, but where do you guys/gals keep your paperwork? If I remember correctly bikes back in the 80's had a small compartment to carry the owners manual, insurance and registration.

**** you know I forgot. I'm going to have to check now. I thought I kept it under my seat, but with my new seat it doesn't fit and I can't remember what I did with it. **** **** ****

I just put my owners card and nsurance in a ziplock bag and put it in the tool pouch under the seat. Not like you have to get it out very often....at least lets hope not.

I'm in cali, I have USAA for insurance and my proof is on my phone mobile app. Reg I try to keep in my wallet. but every time I've been pulled over or when I got in my accident. I just tell them to run the plate. And it tells them who my insurance is and that is current on registration. So far only one cop got a little pissed that I knew that the system will tell if I have insurance and that its current on registration and as long as I was able to provide him with my drivers licence number and DOB. I didn't have to have it on me(I had forgot my wallet at home)

In jersey you must be in possession of you documents. Insurance is not linked up to registration. So if pulled over you need your drivers license with motorcycle endorsement, valid registration and proof of insurance. Even if you have all that but you don't have something with you, that is a failure to produce documents (like $160 ticket). The system can check for your license and registration and if valid in the system you can proceed. Within 24 hours you have to return to the town where the ticket was issued and show proof the you are indeed in possession of the documents. That will get your ticket reduced by 1/2.
Thats why I want to keep as much of my stuff with the bike. I guess the zip lock bag with the tool pouch is the only option.
