I've decided to buy a backrest for my stryker and I kinda like the short backrest... However I have the mustang vintage touring seat and I'm wondering if the backrest would fit since the passenger cushion is bigger and taller than the stock one. I really don't like the tall one but if the short one will not fit, I guess it'll have to be. Anyone have any other passenger backrests besides the yamaha ones ? I was also looking at the cobra one... Any insight on this would be appreciated

I would like to see pictures of peoples rides with the star back rest in short and tall.
What's the heights of the two back rest.
I'm thinking about getting a short back rest since I usually ride solo most of the times unless a lady wants to ride on the back and who I'm I to say no.......

I'm sure the taller one will be more comfortable that the short one, but I think the short one will have better style... I would be purchasing the Chrome one with luggage rack....

Pictures please.

I have the Tall fixed mount backrest. I got it from the Yamaha dealer. Originally I had wanted the quick release but it was on back order and I did not want to wait. Haha

If anyone is interested I did see a good deal on ebay for a new short fixed midnight backrest that ends on Sunday.

Yeah i saw that one and i bout ordered it till i saw it doesnt come with the pad
The Star one doesn't come with the pad, you need to order it separate. You might get lucky and find someone selling it on ebay together, but that isn't how Yamaha sells it. Kinda dumb..

Thanks to this thread I just got back from the store where I picked up the Fixed, short, black back rest with pad + small luggage rack and grabbed a nice bag that fits on the rack as well. Looking forward to using it this weekend with my wife

Just installed my setup, here’s a pic. It’s the fixed backrest which I prefered over the quick release because when I take it off it won’t leave behind the big stud bolts sticking out that the quick release has (sorry for that 11 ;D). The 4 bolts really come off quick especially if you use a power drill, and that works for me since I’ll be riding 95% of the time without the backrest on.
