Instructions should come with it. But if not, I have already had my spring/shock out and replaced stock spring with L&M lowering spring and reinstalled. So I am familiar with the set-up. Instructions would just help with adjusting setup which I'm sure can be done with it fully installed anyway.

I usually am that way, but I looked at what it would take to do it myself and said screw that. It's been sitting in the garage, staring me down every time I pass it. Waiting to wear out my tire so I could do both at the same time and save some labor. Cords started showing at bike night last week so it was time. It's being done as I type this, picking it up this afternoon. 240 Metzler 880, Progressive Spring, Oil Change, and a few other minor adjustments.

I have a set of links and springs. springs are tighter but works out great cause i m 250lbs. have it at the lowest setting and no issues with rubbing or bottoming out even with wife on the back. Just make sure that the spring is centered on the shock cause it is a slight bit bigger then the stock on. here is a picture of it after install.

I have read other places that the use of the spring really firms up the ride - almost to the point of being uncomfortable to ride solo - unless you really carry alot of weight between rider, passenger, and/or gear. From that perspective, I see alot of dogbone recommendations over the spring. I have no personal experience with either one....just wondering.

So I take it that progressive makes just a spring without the shock? My 1" lowering Progressive is a Shock /Spring assy. and is infinitly adjustable.

So with the weight limit of the bike being at 450 pounds and knowing the wife and I exceed that limit would the Stryker Progressive Rear Spring work? http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/stryker_suspension.htm says the load is 825 to 1250 pounds. Also I would like to know if it is simple to do and if I should just wait until I replace the rear tire with a 240?

Visionary: did you ever end up installing this spring? I've been looking around for reviews of what people thought of it....

I came across it on eBay myself the other day and am trying to figure out how it rides single and two up. For $90 I felt like it's worth a look.

Anyone with an opinion or review will be welcomed! Thanks guys

Re-visiting this spring again after installing my hard bags this weekend. Looking for a little extra help from the spring when riding 2-up and gear in the bags.

Has anyone installed one of these springs on their stock shock?

I have one sitting in my garage. Installing it tomorrow. Biggest issue was trying to find someone to swap the spring once I pulled the shock. No local shops would do it for less than 100. Said screw it and made my own spring compressor yesterday. Shock goes on tomorrow.

So I took the scoot for a quick spin after buttoning up the last of the electronics this morning. First impressions are that this was well worth the cost of the spring. Not as much rebound time after hard bumps and absolutely no bottoming out. I will say unfortunately I think it sits a little higher than it did with the stock spring.

Removing the shock is a pain but not hard...just lots of little things to move. Swapping the spring sucked. I made a home made spring compressor from 1/4" thick one inch steel bar. Current into 6 strips at 6" long each. Drilled 2 holes in each at the far end and made 2 triangles and pulled them together using all thead. It was a pain to make and the steel bar was bending pretty good by the end. If you can take it to a shop for the spring swap portion of the install.

I'm going to order the front springs this week as with the stiffer back end the nose is diving slightly more under heavy braking.

This sounds promising. Trying to get away from bottoming out is my main concern as you've mentioned, especially with these new bags. They market it as being a better ride when solo also, that was a concern of mine, didn't want it to ride like a hardtail when solo haha. I think I may have to give it a shot for $90, and the fact you say it helped with bottoming. Thanks for the review/feedback for sure.

Even better. I've got a ride next weekend, but doubt I can buy one and get it installed by then, after that I'll be solo riding for the rest of the year for the most part, so it can wait and be a winter project at this point I'd say. Look forward to an update after some real miles. Ride safe!
