So yet another accident involving a motorcycle and a moron! The guy on the motorcycle was crossing the intersection when a truck made a left hand turn in front him. Rather then the guy in the truck following through with his turn he slammed on the brakes. The guy on the bike swurved and would have missed him if the truck would have followed through with the turn or paid attention... I swear it's crap like this that take all the fun out of riding, you dam near have to wear tank armor and air bags strapped to your ass. People need to wake the **** up! This was only 6 blocks from my house.

I agree 100%. On saturday I was at the local motorcycle dealership, getting ready to leave and a guy in a car back out right in front of me. I slammed on my brakes, he continued to back out, never even looked to see if anyone was behind him.

There are too much of those in the last years. It's getting even worse with all those **** cell phones...

I am starting to think that the driving permit should be harder to get. If you are involved in an accident that you are responsible, you should lose it for a year or two.

We are in june only and avoided two accident already in the last few weeks ... Morons who get impatient in traffic. The last one made me so mad I almost parked my bike to jump him...

2 times last week i was almost hit. One of the times my wife and I were cruising around town, and a lady couldn't decide what lane to stay in. She ended up going left lane, so i sped up to pass her on right. She instant went in right lane right as I was up on her backside door, and i blared the horn and hit the breaks. The 2nd time a guy was pulling a trailer with his truck. Didn't even look and changed lanes to the left. I blarred the horn and was able to basically reach out and touch his trailer with my foot. He never stopped and i had to let him in by a near miss. At the next stop light he rolled down the window and was very apologetic to me.

And then you get the smartass little girls who think they can just pull across 3 lanes of traffic in front of 2 motorcycles. Both of us yelling at them and they just laugh!

After my motorcycle accident I realised that it was up to me to stay alive. Other vechical drivers are to caught up in thier own world, to worry about other people, let alone motorcycles. Unfortunately we loose in a collision, so even though I agree with you, the best we can do as riders is to look out for ourselves.

I totally agree, we can complain till the cows come home but they aren't gonna change and we are the ones who will suffer so my mentality is always assume the worse and ride like you're invisible. Might sound overly negative, and it can take some of the full relaxation/fun out of riding but I think that all in all it has served me well so far.

that's it exactly man. i HATE to see these posts. i hate seeing anyone on two wheels going down cuz some POS isn't paying attention. BUT, i like that it gives us pause. it should make us just ride with caution. those out there in 4 or more wheels can kill us at any time. stay alert when riding!! don't get comfortable or complacent

I agree. Not to harass our own, but I've seen some pretty stupid moves by people on motorcycles as well. Especially in heavy traffic...I nearly hit a guy on a bike this evening because he was popping in and out of blind spots and swapping lanes constantly without signals or full head-checks...and I gave him a lot of room and KNEW he was there! Regardless, people do need to focus on their surroundings while driving to maintain situational awareness irrespective of what they are in or on.

I agree but it seems around here it's a daily thing. Since I got my bike in February I have had many encounters, the day I brought it home from the deler which is about 2 miles away I almost got taken out. I admit to being one of those who drives pretty aggressive in a car but I always take time to watch for bikes. Maybe it's just my train of thought since I ride. This is riding season and people need to realize it's just like going from summer to winter, slow down and be cautious. You don't drive the same as you do in the summer as you do in the winter if there is snow...

I'm a big believer in the idea that part of getting a basic drivers license needs to taking a motorcycle safety course and learninghow to ride a bike. I know that after my course I became a much better and much more aware driver.
