I know this drilling the pipe thing has been talked to death, but I was holding off to see how the bikes performace has kept up after a year or so, no funds for the high end after market pipes, anyone still running your drilled pipes a little intel would be appriciated.

Hi Richard, I am running the stock pipes on my bike. Honestly I admire all the nice pipes available to you guys but I really like the look of the stock pipes. Only real issue was the size which makes it hard to get my chubby hands into all the corners when cleaning and the need for a bit more sound. So I drilled mine at around 500km. I have now done just over 5000km and loving the look and the sound. I did the 4 holes at 12mm, we do the metric thing here. The sound is just what I wanted. Not too loud but a nice deep growl. Can't say what the effect was in consumption or performance because I had not done enough time or distance before drilling to make a fair comparison. I was willing to use a bit more gas to get the sound. Regards from Durban RSA.

I'm sure you will love the new sound. Can't remember reading posts from anyone who wasn't happy after drilling. I had to check with my dealer first because here in my neck of the woods they are very strict on and work being done by the owner or for that matter anyone other than the dealer. They will cancel the warranty so fast your head will spin. It's even printed in the owners manual that any work done by a non-authorised Yamaha Dealer will void the warranty. I certainly won't risk that. Good luck.
