Ya already plotting a course for our month long ride starting in June. Looks like Tahoe and Reno will be our first stop. Gonna meet in Reno for the Raider Rally on the 16th then head for Area 51. Then I think Lake Havasu. Then we will go east to New Mexico to Roswell and to the Carlsbad Caverns. Then back west to San Diego stopping at the Grand Canyon somewhere along the line. Then take the coast route 101 and 1 back up to norther Ca. Somewhere around 3,500 to 4,000 miles round trip. Any one got ideas for me through them here. We may even consider going all the way to Florida.

Hey SrykerJan! That is so awesome. You guys are going to love it. Where are you going to start your tour from? Any plans yet? We plan on being out on the road between one and two months. Haven't set a complete route yet. Probably in San Diego the last week of June then head east from there. Maybe we all will be in the same area going the same direction along the way some where and ride together for some of it?

We are going to start in Brunswick where we pick up the bikes and head North for the SERR rally in Maggie Valley at the beginning of August. We leave there on the 5th August heading for Nashville, TN then Jefferson city MO, dodge city KS then a couple of nights in Denver CO. We then go to Grand Junction, Moab,
Monticello then a couple of nights in Flagstaff AZ. 14th August includes Grand Canyon visit. Then to Socorro, Pecos via Roswell 16th August, Bulverde and finally to Houston where we fly home from on the 21st August.

Is this a bit late for you?

No that's not to late because we plan on riding all summer just not sure yet where and when. Thought maybe head for South Dakota for the Sturgis rally I think it is in August. But my question to you guys is do you plan on riding your bikes the entire distances in the periods of time you mentioned or is that just some ideas you have of where you'd like to go, because the US is quite large and my wife and I have been called hard asses riding some 3 and 400 miles a day and that's with me driving. I don't know how many miles a day my wife can pilot her bike yet. that remains to be seen. So far she has made little over 250 with a lot of mountain travel and was quite fatigued at 10 hrs out and more than 7 hrs of that actual riding. But I'm sure freeway travel could do a lot more. Have you guys done the logistics yet?

Myself and Sally did 4300 miles in 3.5 weeks last August, starting on the east coast, taking in the Raider Rally, then riding across 12 States via CO, UT, NV then Cali (LA) up highway 1 to San Fran.

Doing the maths, that's only around an average of 170 miles per day. The plans are pretty much cast in stone, and if you wish to meet up along the way, StrykerJan has the itinerary.

We understand the weather will be hot in certain States, and did experience that last year, especially in Las Vegas area, but we are heading east once we hit Flagstaff AZ.

Our stop overs in certain locations are flexible if need be, but we have built in some rest periods along the way.

Any advise is always welcome, but we had zero negatives last year, so expect none next.

Great so you guys know the ropes then. So it sounds very possible we may be able to hook up some where along the way cause like I said we don't have a definite time and direction of destinations yet, except if they have the raider rally in Reno on the 16 of June we will make that but could just do a weekend ride for that. Maybe we can meet at the Grand Canyon and go east with you guys to Roswell, Carlsbad if that's your plan. Also we pack camping gear cause we love the out doors and we can stop anywhere or any time we like also saves money for more gas. As motels average near a $100 a night, this could cut travel expenses short. Don't know what you guys do but any way keep in touch through out the coming months and we will see how it goes. What the heck do you guys do for a living that you can be gone that long?
Well I'm early retired Because I literally busted my neck working in construction all my life. Blew 2 discs in my neck. Drs said no more work for me and said I need physical therapy. so I sold all my equipment except what I need for my own projects. Then I bought 3 therapy machines, a Virago, a V Star and a Stryker hehe. And my wife owns her own internet service provider company and also contracts a billing and help department for a high speed broad band company and works from home. She is training her son to take over while we are gone. We pack computers with us so she can work on the road to. And we also pack camping gear to keep cost down. In fact we have found free camp sights in some areas including one in Tahoe. Maybe a pic or two would be appropriate at this time .

All the power to ya brother!! I'd be doing the same thing. I want to go coast to coast on a bike before I die. My father has done it and said every biker needs to do it once. He stayed at KOA campgrounds the whole trip. Did it in 6 weeks.

Not to hijack your thread: My plan right now throw the bike in my truck and head out to the West Central Raider Rally in the Black Hills June 8 - 11, from there head over to Red Lodge MT if the Bearthooth is open ride it and Chief Joseph hwy... if I have enough time I may try to ride the Going to the Sun Hwy in Glacier....then head to Reno for the Western Area Raider Rally in Reno June 16...next stop will be in Montrose CO ride the San Jaun Skyway & Black Canyon Loops...then back to Jax....approx 6,000 mi round trip....so if you see a Raider in the back of a truck with Florida tag..it'll be me.... 8)

That sounds like fun. Hope to see you in Reno. You must be trucking your bike to make that kind of mileage in that time period though. Couldn't think of any other reason you wouldn't ride the hole way? Our ride we are planing for 2013 starting from here to the top of the country on the coast of Washington follow the boarder of Canada to Sturgis then to Niagara then to the east coast all the way to Miami then the Gulf coast all the way to the Texas Mexican boarder then to the west coast of San Diego all the way up the coast home. That's about 10,000 miles round trip all on our bikes. That sounds a little ambitious but that's the plan.
