I've been thinking about blacking out my headlight housing and tachometer but I'm not sure which route to go because I don't want to mess it up. I've seen it done both ways and honestly the Krylon looked better. But I'm concerned on how long it will last. Any thoughts I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys.

I went with Krylon paint for the simple reason it comes off as paint. Plasti-dip comes out like rubber.

However the nice things about Plasti-dip is because it is rubber like you can just peal it off like a glove if you are not happy with it.

I used plasti dip just to see if I liked the blackout look. Didn't care for the texture and would easily rub off. A few drops of Gasoline dissolves it immediately. Did like the blackout look though so I used Krylon on the speedo the ignition the mirrors and engine covers. Looks great, looks like it came from the factory that way.

The PlastiDip comes out with wrinkled textured similar to the triple tree clamps. I did the ignition cover, speedo housing cover in the PlastiDip and it all ties together nicely. Because of the textured look touch ups are super easy as it blends. However the plastidip gets scuffed up pretty easy if anything rubs on it. I had a small tool bag I hung on the handle bars and it got marked up. A quick couple shot of plastidip and it back to being good.

I am thinking for the headlight I would rather do it paint and just do the rear part of the headlight bucket and leave front ring chrome to keep the two tone look. Just food for thought.

That's what I did . That way the front matches the back of the bike . I used krylon paint , since the back of the bucket is plastic
