There is a white plug in the headlight with red and brown wires. 12V when bike is off but with key on 12v goes away. BUT, each wire to ground has 12v with key on.
Question is, can I hook my 12v cig lighter to one of the wires and other to ground to run my GPS?

If i remember correctly that is for auxiliary lights so yep you can use it.

It's a white plug in the headlite. It has 2 wires in and 2 wires out. Red and Brown. I'll get a pic later today for ya.

Thats your ignition switch connector. The RED is always hot. The BROWN supplies keyed power to the fuse box.
