As the subject line says I'm getting popping on decels running Cobra Slip-Ons and Autotuner. I ran my slip-ons for about 2 weeks before I installed my autotuner and have noticed an improvement but I guess I'm not sure how much popping I should still expect.

I know there are a bunch of you out there running the same combo and would love to hear if you still off some popping. It's not real bad but its more to appease my curiosity more than anything. Thanks.

Popping under deceleration is completely normal for a properly tuned bike. In order to completely get rid of the popping all together you'd actually have to de-tune the motor which would obviously hurt performance and efficiency. They pop quite a bit bone stock….you just don’t notice it with the factory muffler.

Did you use new exhaust gaskets? When I did exhaust on my dads bike I had some popping and it was because I didn't change the exhaust gaskets when I put the new exhaust on. Once I changed them no popping at all.
He just did the slip-on not the entire system so he wouldn't need to replace any header gaskets.

I have it and it minimally pops, doesn't bother me at all. I had a 2005 suzuki s40 that I traded for my Stryker and that one really popped all the time, and very loud backfires. Even after it got tuned up it still did. especially on a cold day. I just changed the slip on and haven't tuned it, still thinking about getting the auto tuner, I wonder if it's even worth it.

Check the front exhaust bolt on the head... Because of its location... Sometimes it does not get torqued properly... Causing it to loosen a little.... Just enough to suck in some air and cause a loud pop on decel.... Some popping is normal and can't be eliminated..... But sometimes this check can stop the unecissary ones.

I used to have just cobra swept and it popped on decel. I loved the popping actually because I could open throttle slightly to make it pop 3 to 4 times sequentially. I just receive my cobra auto tuner this morning and already installed it. My bike pops but only once even if I open throttle slightly it almost doesn't pop and if it does only once on decel. This is fact as I have followed forum members post on the cobra auto tunner and swept pipes combo to determine what to get. I have stock air box with no modifications. I like it like that for now till I can add a Mach 2.

I just got back from a ride checking out my auto tuner. For those of you installing make sure you use longer harness on injector with label 1 on it first so that you don't have problems. Also zip tie all cables to avoid melting of your tuner cables against engine block. If possible change gasket when installing pipes and torque.

I miss the pop. It sounded like .45 shots and people heard me coming. although the tunner works.

Notice any "seat of the pants" power increase?

Does all slip-on exhaust backfire on deceleration, or is it just a few of the bikes?
On my other bike, I can come off hard deceleration and make it backfire by opening the throttle body slightly. Could this backfiring be the initial factory tuning has our throttle bodies slightly open?
My does backfire and my son says it is producing a flame inside the exhaust pipe.

There should not be gas in the these multi-port injection "throttle bodies".
The gas is at the injector port near the intake valve.
Yes a slightly open throttle body in the idle state on deceleration I could see causing a lean condition.

My other bike "doesn't" backfire if the throttle body is closed completely on hard deceleration. I can create this phenomena is what I was trying to say, by slightly opening the throttle body on hard decel.
I was wondering if some of Strykers from the factory are not adjusted correctly and that causes the backfiring on hard decel.
