Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these Power Commander's. I know when you change out the pipes on a bike you should probably do it, but I had the tech at the dealership say mine was running to lean with the new pipe;some throttle hesitation, and would need one.?. Could running to lean really hurt the engine in the long run; especially being metric or should I take the advise and get a power commander for ol-girl($315:( )?? Any input on this is greatly appreciated.. :D ??? :D

I just got one of the first Power Commander 5's for the Stryker on Friday and my Cobra pipes should be here on Thurs. My mechanic is a good friend of mine and I dont think he has every steered me wrong. He said with just pipes a PC is not necessary but he recommends it to get the best performance out of the bike. Since I plan on getting the Cobra air intake also, I got the PC5. I want to get the auto-tune eventually. He explained to me that using a dyno is more of a tweak of the existing map. That its only as good as the guy who is running it. To get the best performance you need the auto tune to constantly adjust the air/fuel mix to your riding style. I didnt buy the Stryker because its a super fast bike, but I do want it to have some get-up-and-go!

I have definately got a mixed review on this matter so far and I do appreciate all the input, but I am nervous about hurting my engine. I heard from plenty by just changing the pipes you really shouldn't need a PC but some others say "better safe than sorry". Not crazy about that expression either ??? I just want it to sound good and run good and not have to shell out another $300+ to get that(tightening budget) Thanks to all again for the response. If you really trust your mechanic BackinBlack please ask him if he is 100% sure it will not hurt the bike just running the pipes without the PC--it is greatly appreciated....missing the growl already(stockers back on for now) :( :(

It is made by Dynojet and I have one received one. My mechanic orders direct from Dynojet and got it in last Thursday. I'll post a pic when I can.
My-Sanity, my mechanic said it will not hurt to run the Cobras without the Power Commander but says it may pop a little more on decel.

I talked to the local speed shop that does dyno tunning and to the stealership they both said different or modded exaust should be ok as long as the 02 sensor is still hooked up.
I have a CA. model bike and im trying to find out if the Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Tuner will work for this bike , they also sell a ca issue but it does a lot less.

There are times I can't stand that--when they won't leave the package without a signature but there are times when they leave something of good value and sits out for the whole neighborhood to see--- unsecure. Guess it's a horse a piece. ??? ::) Sounds good--can't wait to see them. Not really calling for too much rain tomorrow--putting my pipe back on as well!!! ;) ;D ;) Maybe adding some LED neons this weekend as well--just for an accent

I've hooked up a few Powercommanders in the past. Usually the trickiest part is routing the harness through the frame to the proper places. If they give you good instructions (i.e. plug this connector into the blue wire with yellow stripe which is next to the...) then its much easier. That and finding a place to mount the unit itself. Fortuanately the PCV is pretty tiny compared to the PCIII which helps. Don't know anything about the Cobra or V&H models.

I'm thinking of removing the toolkit and tray then velcroing it to the battery, but that won't be for a while.
