So... I have had my Motorcycle endorsement since I was 16 (30yrs), I want to get the post decal for JBLM (formerly fort Lewis)... I now must attend the safety course... take the written exam to aquire my license, and "ride the cones"..... Burns me up! On the flip side (trying to be optimistic) I like the idea of trying to make the less than average rider better aware of riding techniques... Just venting folks.....

Yea, I took a MC Safety course last year with my Son, so he could get his road test waiver. I had my first mc back in 1974 and rode Minibike before that, but learned alot of things. Money well spent.

Wife took the course. We will both take the advanced course when she is ready. Can't learn enough for safety on bikes. I to started riding in the late 60s. But I feel there is always more to learn out there especially from professionals. It always helps to refresh your memory and hone your skills. Those courses give you hands on training that you would not get a chance to experience and practice how to deal with it so it doesn't surprise you if it ever happens on the street.

I grew up riding bikes. But I had to take the course here at Robins Air Force Base so I could drive to work. The course is very educational and well worth it. Even though I go into it with the main instructor. He was telling them to always ride with your high beams on. So I guess it makes you safer if you blind the guy coming at you with a 4K lb projectile.

Update to the rider course... So.. I took the course today.. admittedly went in with a less than great attitude... BUT.. I found it to be fairly informative and forced me to take a close look at some not so good habits I have aquired over the years... I have to say... It was money well spent... Turned out to be a pretty fun class... I can now recommend it to all...

Are you still enlisted? If so check with the Base Safety Office, they paid for my class in 2006. If you take the course and pay for it, but have a reciept they'll also reimburse you... check it out.. ya never know.

Fun Fun Fun! I was way down south on this go around... Mushan, zangebad, Shoja... you know... the resort areas! where you hear the birds (apache, kiowa warriors etc...) and the bees (7.62, dishca's... all buzzing around) and of course... the Moles!!!... they dig deep and wait....
Brother you be safe... I might see you over there in a few weeks.

Nothing like the sound of 7.62s and if you are lucky maybe some mortors or rockets to wake you up in the morning. You are going back as a contractor....
