I wanted to find a way to mount my iPhone to my bike so I can use the navigation on the long trips. After some searching (and some horrible reviews about the CellBuckle) I picked up the RAM mount made for motorcycles (with the shorter arm so it wouldn't stick out as much) for just under $50 shipped.

http://www.rammount.com/Products/MotorcycleMounts/tabid/128/Default.aspx#/wizard . The ordering process is complicated if you don't order the standard parts like I did. But at least they have a fast turn around. They shipped my order the next day with FedEx tracking.

Install took less than 5 minutes and holds the phone securely and I mean, pot holes at 85 held this thing in. It's mostly metal with rubber lined joints. There's the plastic base that holds the phone with a 1" rubber ball that goes into the socket of the arm. Then there's the other side of the arm with another ball and socket joint that attaches to the handlebars with a c-clamp. Positioning is easily adjustable. Unscrew the knob and you can remove the base/arm for storage. The clamp/ball remain. Sure the ball and clamp is kinda ugly, but it's unobstructive and it's not terribly noticeable. This is one exception for me where practicality will win over aesthetics. Your opinion may vary.

Used with the bluetooth for music/navigation/phone, this is a pretty awesome setup for anyone who's interested.

Here's a video of me sticking my camera in my helmet. The music is playing from the iPhone bluetooth and the navigation starts in. Sound is crisp and clear up to 85mph.

Nice.....
I've got the same set up.....however I don't have a Bluetooth for my helmet....and I can't see worth a crap without glasses so can't see the navigation map very well, so I have not actually used it more than a test out ride.

At least the little ball doesn't stand out, when the actual holder is removed, and it's very easy to install, my ball is in the same place...

What type of bluetooth headset you using?

Yes its great! I opted for the short arm so I can move it around easier and go landscape if needed. It holds the iPhone extremely well. You'll be happy to hear that its been over a year since I installed this and not a single problem. I also use it for bluetooth music and navigation with my Scala Rider.

Wow this is an old pic! :)

I just installed a dual 12v power outlet on the bike. Theres one that comes from under the seat for the Bluetooth, and a second that comes out at the handle bars for the phone. That one has a thinner socket on it so I can tuck it under the speedo bezel when not in use.

I have the Sena SMH10.

Glad you guys are running the same setup with good results! Definitely no regrets on this one.

I have the x grip for my iPhone 5 and was very skeptical. But a guy i work with had one for his Samsung. It seemed to work well so I tried it. I now has over 350 miles with the phone just hanging out there. It does NOT move. I have gone over bumps that lift my 250lb butt off the seat and it does NOT move. The springs are pretty strong and the rubber clamps are soft making for an awesome grip. Did I mention it Does NOT move.

I actually switched to the x-grip last year as I went from I-phone to Samsung. The x-grip is just as strong as the the i-phone mount even though there is no bottom piece. Several thousand miles and in drizzle and it still holds up fine.

It works well, it can rotate so you can hold it horizonal or vertical. There is enough 'squeeze' that it's not sliding out the bottom when vertical, that's for sure.

You can see here I use it on a dual sport and no issues.

I bought this holder for my iPhone 5 on ebay for $15. Waterproof (tested already), rotates 360, fits perfectly right on the left side of the handlebar, stays totally out of the way.
I installed a USB charger underneath the speedo, out of sight.
Use it for navigation. Cheap, fast and efficient!
