So I’ve gotten 15 miles on my fuel reserve before and 10m a couple times and have done this with confidence since many of you have said you’ve done 20+miles on the reserve. I've never ran out of gas until last night when the frickin thing ran out after only 7 miles on the reserve. Not sure what the deal with the inconsistency is but I don’t like it. Didn’t care for standing on the side of the freeway for a ½ hour last night either. I guess my point is we should be able to trust a simple fuel sensor, but not this one..

I notice I get about 37 mpg in the city and about 47 on the highway. When get down to the final box on the fuel gauge I start planning my next gas stop. When the low fuel light comes on that is the no fooling around time.

Yeah I've ran out of gas too and the f trip meter didnt even came on so the safest thing I found to do is to start looking for gas after I get to the 130 miles read in the odometer

Yeah all good advice..thanks.
I get nowhere near that kind of mileage though. Ran out of gas at 120miles yesterday.
After my mods I had been averaging 34.7 mpg
My last 3 fill ups were; 38.8mpg, 31.9mpg (where I went 19.9m on the reserve fuel), and my last one was 27.25mpg.
Not sure what happened to bring it down to 27mpg but I’m going to be keeping an eye on this

So is there a light that comes on later? I haven't ridden more than 10 miles once my final box on the fuel gauge pops up. I thought that when it flashed from the clock to the single box, that was the low fuel warning.

The manual says that when there's ~1.32gal left in the tank, the single bar will pop up on the screen. Some time after that the countdown will appear along with the orange gas light.

Doing the math, supposing you get 40mpg on average and people can travel 20miles on the countdown (unless you're SDsting :p ) there's a half gallon left when the light pops on and the countdown begins.

I ran out of gas the other day while waiting to pull up to the pump. That sure was close . Only had about 12 miles on my f-trip. But I'm still only getting about 30mpg.

Took a road trip today, the single bar display came on @ 101 miles, the light came on @ 121, I filled up @ 133 and it only took 3.45 gallons. So, realistically, I should've still had approximately .5 gallons left - or roughly another 20 miles. That's probably about as close as I'll ever get to finding out though - I thought I was going to end up walking, which would've been the result of pure stupidity on my part since I was right next to a fuel pump when the single bar came on. :)

Me too......back roads to work every day.....have a few stop lights as well, thru some small towns....... MPG went down significantly after changing to the 240.....or at least based on the odometer readings...... probably been getting 30-35 since I've owned the bike.....

Glad im not the only one with less MPG once i made some mod changes. Single bar popped up for me today at 95.5 miles. Had the light come on pre mods at about 120. haven hit light yet as this was first tank since mods. (well first full tank)

well not glad, but makes me feel more comfortable..

Yeah I’m also heavy on the wrist-twist, and really enjoy the sounds from crack/pops on decel. Don’t care too much about $$/mpg but not going to let the beast run out of juice again.

During on my recent 3 day rides... my fuel light actualy came on. About 20 miles later I found a gas station and filled up. I had 161 mile on the trip meter... I put in 3.3 gallons. Meaning... if the tank actually holds 3.8 gallons... I had another .5 left in the tank. I've never run out... but I was pleasently surprized at the mileage.

I was loaded with 3 days of gear as well... along with rain.

I try to run non-ethanol gas. 91 or 93 octane if possible. Anything less... the motor likes to ping.

Ok now I’m getting a bit concerned..
Before my mods I was getting 33.8mpg and after my mods I was getting 34.7mpg
Recently I ran out of gas which was a red flag.. and my last 2 fillups have been 27mpg (normal around-town riding).
And my single-bar low fuel indicator came up at 73miles this time.
Not sure what’s going on.. anyone have any ideas?
