Ok need some suggestions. Last weekend I put new mirrors, grips and side mount license plate on.. Been hearing a rattle and though it was the license plate cause it had only 2 screws on it. Put 4 and still hear the rattle at real high rpm.. All the parts seem tight..

I also unplugged the o2 sensor and though maybe it was that, but it sounds like a coin hitting a metal plate right before it flattens out, hard to explain but metal to metal high speed vibration... Any ideas. Should I strap the o2 connections down somehow?

Check the rear axle mount caps. Has a bolt protruding through it with two nuts. That cap can loosen.

I had a rattle that drove me crazy for like a week. Turned out to be my metal key ring bouncing around. It didn't do it all the time. It had to be laying just right.

is the glass part of the mirror loose inside the frame.

I just replaced my mirrors because one was rattling really bad. Still something else rattling, though, real similar to how you're describing it. Took me a long time to notice it because I usually ride with headphones in.

I think its the horn. It rattles a bit if I tap on it. I'm gonna take mine off this weekend and see if it helps.

Put a set of pipes on it.

ok going down the list..

the axle caps are tight

my key ring is rubber and hasn't ever rattled before so don't think that is it

touched the glass and they are pretty solid.. I have the kuryakin skel hand mirrors.

my horn also seems to be tight

I have twin staggered pipes but the rattle is loud enough to hear it over them.

I still think its my license plate because its 3 pieces of metal together, even though the 4 bolt holes are tight, I think it may be the thin metal the inspection is mounted on vibrating in the middle between the screws.. I am going to try and tape them together or something to see if that works..


another note, I filled up with gas this morning and my bike was not happy at all, would die at lights, chugged really bad even at 65.. going to try and plug the o2 back in and see if they were rattling and hopefully it will drive better

Try double backed foam tape from a hardware store, Amazing stuff for rattles.

yeah I was going to try that out and put a few pieces on each side to see if it works... not sure why my bike was soo upset this morning either

Maybe a little water in the gas?

Try some Seafoam in the gas. If you think the rattle is still coming from the license plate just take it off temporarily to see if the noise goes away. If it's as loud as you say it is you should be able to tell right away. Good luck!

Plug the 02 back, put super unleaded, check the last thing you moded! And switch to miller lite!

Don't be messing around ESE, I tell all my friends how sweet your bike sounds and now you have a rattle!

Are you kidding? As soon as I heard yours I knew it! I told you too, I'm gonna have to order the rounds a little slower when you hang out with me!
