It looks like I have swapped out my rear fender bolts one too many times. I cannot get a bolt into one of the holes all of a sudden. It appears that the threads are damaged. What's the fix for this?

I recall seeing a thread recently but can't locate it. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Run a 8mm 1.25 pitch tap threw hole first to see if that fixes threads. If not Timesert makes the best Thread repair insert. Rather pricy but wont ever come back out like a helicoil.

Same thing happened to me when I first installed the backrest, taking it on/off as needed and I carelessly cross-threaded one of the holes. My fix was to run the bolt from the inside of the fender out a few times to re-straighten the threads. The bolt goes in fine from the outside in now, I’m just very careful.
