has anyone cut the rear fender mounts and lowered the rear fender closer to the tire? have links and a spring but still want the gap closed further. i have a solo seat on the way so not to concerned with the stock seat brackets or rear tailight wiring hitting on hard bumps...let me know what ya think thanks nate

Unless you limit the travel of the shock you need to keep about 3 3/4" of clearance between the tire and fender. If you dont it will hit and can cause issues such as ruining your tire, pulling off the license plate and sucking it into the rear tire(if it's mounted on the back)and wiring like you said.

The stock fender blends in with all the trim lines on the bike and lines up with the seat, plastic inner fender stuff like that. If you wanted to drop it, I think you'd need a custom fender, and seat. Then you could cut off the factory rear end and make a set of nice metal fender supports weld them to the frame on the outside/inside of the rear fender. Outside would eliminate all the rubbing issues.

appriciate the feedback guys...the license plate is on the side of the bike already and all the inner fender stuff is deleted...ive seen a few friends that have honda furys lower theres as they have somewhat of the same set up as we do...im going to make some new cross peices this evening and weld them on to see what happens..worst that can happen is i rip the taillight wires or ruin the tire which will gimme a good excuse to upgrade anyways :)
