Can anybody measure there rear tailight?just curious on the size..
Pretty sure the 03/04 yamaha r1 lights are pretty close in look wise.so it might work..

Internet shopping is great EXCEPT for the hands on looksee. 1 minute with this taillight will tell you if it can work.

My tailight just bolts under the fender with whats left of the medal bracket and 2 L brackets it's not in the plastic housing any more , so for me should be a easy install, the pics look like the factory plug will work and then 2 wires for the blinkers, I just hope it's bright .
You guys that want to replace the stock inside of the plastic housing not sure about that. I can take measurments of the light for you and some better pics.

Oem part num for 03 r1 5pw-84710-10-00 71.82 11 stryker 27D-84710-00-00 71.82. The schematics they have are also similar. I just ordered the clear one, I will post pics and updates when it arrives. The Kawasaki looks close in shape. I searched an R1 forum and found out the size is 7.25x1.75, so it seems a hair slim on the width and as close as you can get on the length. With the R1 lens surface shaped like a ramp plus the measurements, I will probably just swap the housings. Hopefully the plug is a match and I wont have to splice. According to the tracking it should be here this afternoon. If I get to leave work this morning, I will get to work on it sometime today. If I get stuck here for another shift I will have to put it off till tomorrow morning.

Plug and play and it bolted right in the base is identical. The lens does stick out a little more than stock and you do have to splice the turn signals. Here are some pics. I may swap to the factory lens or I may just wait for motodynamic or clear alt to make one. Thanks to Peteystryker for brining this light to our attention.
