I've got over 5000 miles on my Stryker and it's time for a new rear tire. Has anyone changed their tires yet, or better yet, you Raider guys, what have seemed to be the popular, well performing tires that guys are getting?

I was definitely thinking a 240 and went to Motorcycle Superstore to check out what they had that would fit and could only find three tires:

Continental - Conti Race Attack Custom Rear Tire
Size - 240/40ZR-18
$232.99

Dunlop - Elite 3 Custom Wide Rear Tire
Size - 240/40VR-18
$168.99

Metzeler - ME 880 Marathon XXL Rear Tire
Size - 240/40VR-18
$205.99

theres threads here stating that a 260 will fit.....do a search and find out the
details on that, but I am sure a 250 will fit.......xavier, check out Tejas. They
are selling Avon Cobras for less than 200 including shipping. The Avons are
getting better reviews and more miles.

Any negatives going with a 240 tire vs stock??
The only slight negative, but easy to accustom yourself to- You will need a little more throttle to start out in first.

A note of caution. I'd be concerned about putting a wider tire on a rim that's intended to hold a 210 mm tire. It tends to distort the tire profile and may cause some quirky handling characteristics, uneven wear patterns and the possibility of a blow out. I'd contact the tire manufacturer before I tried this.

So, it may be obvious, but how does a tire get worn out in 5,000 miles???? I am working on "wearing" mine out but my wife keeps threatening me. I got the big tire itch!
It's an OEM motorcycle tire. My dealership was surprised I got that much out of it.

Well, the Raider guys have been doing it for some time now and the "distorted," i.e., taller profile is exactly what I'm going for due to the handling effect it will have on turn-in. There will no doubt be some wear issues with the tire having a taller profile than is intended but it is nothing that I'm not aware of.

Yes, this combination of rim and tire actually handles much better, turns much better, and
seems to give more confidence in the bike. No one I have heard of has had a tire blow out
on them, because of this and it trues up your speedo. It almost seems these bikes should have
this combo.
