Three weeks ago when I first got my bike, I noticed I was only getting about 33 mpg - I ride through traffic mostly - back and forth to work and there are a lot of stoplights.

After drilling my exhaust (4 holes each 1/2"), my mileage improved slightly and now I get around 38 mpg.

So mine improved (but I also just finished my break in during this time, now @ 1100 miles).

But I don't understand why some people are getting 40+ mpg - is it mostly highway riding for you guys?

I ride mostly city except for the weekends, but even then it takes me 30 minutes to get away from traffic.
