I decided to remove my fake plastic struts and needed to make the spacer thicker to compesate for the spacer to put my sissy bar back on. I went to Lowes and found a nylon spacer that was very close. I used super glue to attatch it to the metal spacer that came with the sissy bar. In picture below. Then I painted them black before putting back on the bike. With everything back in place I think the rear fender looks much better. Easy project took only about 5 min to put back together. About 45 min to paint the spacers.

I'm leaning toward doing this and like what you did with the spacers. Where these in the hardware section of Lowes?
it was where they have the slide out trays where all the bolts and nuts and washers are. I like it, got for it

Fake struts look good when replaced with a sissy bar ... otherwise the holes and indents left without a sissy bar look unfinished

I just did what Natedog did with his 4 side bolts on Old No7 tonight. Looks much better without fake plastic struts. I use 3 black hardened washers with each backrest bolt in place of the struts bushing when I install it for 2 up riding.
