Hey been doing some studying on removing the chrome all together was wondering anybody has tried.

1st put chrome in coca classic has to be regular over night and let set remove and chrome should come off with a little scrubbing.

2nd Put chrome in bleach and let sit I think that was only about 20 mins and wipe off. this one remove chrome and primer coating underneath.

3rd spray on brake fluid and rub off takes more elbow grease.

4th take to chrome shop and the do the chrome process backwards which removes it.

I have all my chrome painted now but I no as much as I ride that it will eventually come off from wear. Even the back rest I painted didn't make it to Florida without removing a little paint. Want to remove totally so I can do a good paint job myself that will last for a long while.

But also don't wanna spend money at a chrome shop to remove it. Just seeing if anyone has tried any of these. Thanks

I have removed the chrome from my speedo cover and ignition switch cover down to bare plastic. Have not done any metal parts. The chromed plastic was removed with 24 hour soakings in bleach, followed by rinsing and scrubing with a scotchbrite pad. It takes about 7-8 24 hour soakings and scrubs. Do not use a wire brush or sandpaper to remove the final few flakes of chrome. Stick with the scothbrite.

I did paint over it but in one trip to 4 hr ride my bag easily rubbed the paint off but keep in mind I didn't sand the chrome at all just used self etching primer first. Held up good just where the bag moved back and forth from my wife moving I guess. Land vehicle Motorcycle Vehicle Motor vehicle Cruiser
