So I did the thing most fear of I dropped my bike at near a stop. Good thing not much damage happened but did scrap my exhaust. So i want to remove and repaint but am running into a few concerns. I have no idea where to start! I see a few allen screw but that didnt help so once again does any one have any experience taking of the exhaust shields? Do I have to take the entire exhaust to do so?

If you just damaged the rear muffler section, You can remove that in one piece by removing
a few bolts. Then you can disassemble that section for painting. I went through this when the
bike was new since the dealer dropped it during delivery. Try and get a new gasket to the head
pipe when you reassemble to avoid leaks.

FYI, expect it to be a pain in the ass. I took my entire exhaust off and started attempting to remove the shields... but as soon as you get a screw loose they bend away, as if under tension, from the mounting holes making them a SOB to get back in place.
