So they totaled my bike and are going to pay $13715 for it minus my $1000 deductible.

They won't let me get any of my aftermarket parts off at this point, the check they are going to write me doesn't even come close to covering the parts and a new bike. This is fng bullshit.

Not to mention they don't even make the Ravens anymore so I'd get stuck with ****ty silver rims and accents. I'm thinking I'll bring my gun up to the dealership and start taking parts off myself.

That sucks, you might be able to find an 11 Raven somewhere, and for a cheap price. Lots of dealerships still have stock of the 11's Im sure there is some way to get to the bike to get the parts off

I don't know where you're at, but in Colorado, you can buy the bike back for scrap... Might want to talk to them about that option.

Most insurance policies will cover extra to an amount usually 500 - 2500 of after market parts with out having to pay extra. You can always add more to the insurance to cover aftermarket parts.

Jester, I think you could find a left over new Raven ffor $8k or $9k that leaves you with $4k for mods. How much$$ did you have in mods?

Re: My Stryker is totalled, and I'm getting hosed

I have $3000 in aftermarket parts on the policy, but they are saying their only going to pay me MSRP of $10990 for the bike and about $2700 in parts... I'm going to have to ***** about that and get the $3000

Also the dealership said I can put the old parts on the bike, just not in their lot and get my parts off.

Ok so I talked with the lien holder and insurance again.... and a friend's mom's boyfriend that owns a shop

Buyback is $5125, I owe $5059, I'd end up with about $2600 left to buy the parts I need:
Tank ~900 or if he can fix the dent ~200
shifter and clutch lever
new grip
foot peg
?

Also since the bike has been totaled the dealership its at now is basically done with finding out the real problem. The friendly shop owner said, he's almost positive its a master cylinder issue and that he would call the dealership (Yamaha rep) and tell them they screwed up, who would in turn report it to Yamaha (lawsuit?).

Option B is they have a Raven on the lot for $9699 brand new, after payoffs etc, I'd have about $2600 owed on the new bike, and still have to paint all the parts.

Ok so assuming your profile is up to date you live in MO. Here is a listing for a 2011 Raven in Saint Charles and another in Kansas City http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2011-Yamaha-Stryker-104431582 http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2011-YAMAHA-Stryker-Cruiser---Raven-97555800 . Both bikes listed as new which I'm sure they were demos. Your bargaining chip is $12500 you will have, one is $9600 the other $10900, no brainer which one to seek out and we all know money talks. $8800-$9000 cash and tell them you will purchase a few addons to make it sound good. Not sure what addons you had before. Exhaust - $600-$700, Tuner $500, LED Kit $150, L & M Front Fender and Chin Scoop $600 (maybe even ask if they can honor the group price because of your accident), PCS Lowering Links $50, 240 Rear Tire $275 installed, LED Tail Light $150, Yamaha Sissy Bar $250, Engine Guards $250...so we have $8800/$9000+$2925(addons)=$11725/$11925 TOTAL .... Sounds to me like you have some left over cash to mail me for figuring all of this out!!! ;)

You would have to still make your payments even if you didn't have an accident correct? That just puts you back to where you were before the accident except for installing the mods all over.
How about your med bills? is the they covering that and some extra?

My Stryker is totaled, and I'm getting hosed or maybe not

Jester if it is proven that a faulty master cylinder is the root cause I would be talking to a personal injury lawyer not making cash deals with the dealer. You might just get a free bike, all the yamaha accessories you want and a lot more cash in your pocket for pain and suffering, lost wages etc.

Plus we all want to know if this is an under reported issue.
