Insurance man said $9,000 in damages on my Stryker after my son layed it down going 40mph last week.

The bike rides great. Will find out Tuesday what the final settlement will be then it will be time to replace grips, exhaust, mirrors & full repaint. I plan on turning my lemon into some sweet lemonade ;D

That sounds high, sure, but I got into an accident, and it looked similar to how your's looks... Got it to the shop, turns out that the frame was tweaked, etc... my total was close to 6700.

Just sayin.

i think usually if the damages are over 80% of the bikes worth they total it??? prolly just a Cali thing???
Its all up the the insurance. When I wrecked mine ya it was only 3900 but they said before the aprasal that they will give me the option all the way upto 100% to repair or replace or just take the money.

How the **** did they just not total it?
The adjuster said it may be totaled. He really checked out the frame & said it was fine. It's their policy to total a bike if it has frame issues & can only be bought back as a parts only bike. The adjuster totaled my wife's 3 month old bike last year due to frame damaged from my son wrecking it.

If I keep it I will have the frame checked. It rides the same as it did before the accident so I'm feeling pretty good about the frame.

It's really surprising that it wasn't totalled. That's more than I paid for my Stryker.

$9,000 for mods would make for one awesome motorcycle. If the frame and engine is good, then you are well on your way.

Wait, so last year your son wrecks your wife's 3 month old bike, and you let him ride your new Stryker and he wrecks it too?

Good thing you have good insurance I guess.

My Son had over 15,000 miles of ride time between his bike(NINJA 636) & my bikes before pulling a stupid stunt on my Wife's bike(NINJA 650) & totaling it. He paid the deductable & was band from my bikes for 6 months. He's put at least 1000 miles on my Wife's new bike (FZ1) without any issues & has about 1000 miles of seat time on the Stryker but that was almost a year ago. This time he was a victim of gravel in a curve.

Re: Insurance man said $9,000 in damages on my Stryker!

The right side 3" Scootmods Forward Controls bracket took the brunt of the force. Nothing a little time in a press couldn't fix. Also straighted the rear brake peddle, adjusted mirrors & my Stryker is rideable again. I put a 100 miles on it today & she runs great. Still gotta wait until Tuesday to work out the money thing with insurance.

Didn't cost me any $$$ to get her up & running plus I wanted to get some miles on her to make sure all is well. I've already priced all I want to do to it if I keep it so hopefully the insurance doesn't try to hose me. Should have answers Tuesday......

Re: Insurance man said my Stryker is totaled

Talked to the insurance company today & they totaled my Stryker, They gave me $7,700 plus I can keep the bike.

In the last 3 days I've put over 150 miles on my Stryker & it is running great. Tomorrow I start the teardown for the repaint. I'm going with a black basecoat with a red pearl in the clearcoat. Byebye tank graphics ;D

Well sometimes in a loss is a gain!

I agree about the tank graphics but at this point I can't see totally repainting everything. In your case it's a different story. Good Luck!
