I have searched but didn't see any topics regarding this. I am contemplating fabricating a custom dash with a round tach and speedo and seeing if anyone has tried and had any luck in doing so?

Given enough time this winter I can probably make it work, but any guidance before beginning will allow me more time for my other mods I will be doing.

I think it would be cool to have a digital speedo or something like that.. but my winter last about 1 day so no time to work on it.. and like Adrenaline said I don't want to mess with a critical part, but would be cool to see..

Well, isnt the bolt speedo stock on a bolt? You flip the key and automatically your bike is doing a cyclic redundancy check?

we know Miko :)

I myself would love to to know if there is an alternative for the stock speedo, even if it's from another bike. The stock stryker speedo is sooooooo boring and un-informational. I would rather have a tach. I have seen some aftermarket digital dashes on Dennis Kirk. None have green lights, only yellow, but I don't want to waste $200-$400 on something that doesn't possibly work. (and I don't usually return things..I stick them on a shelf)

I intend to purchase a generic $40-$50 speedo and see if I can wire it into the system and if it works will then worry about a tach and mounting. Again, not going to do it until this winter, so I will not have any updates for a few months. With the people I have available to me, I know we can make it work, it just may be interesting.

Keep us posted...if you get something that works and looks good, I'll be your first customer :)

I dig the stock speedo, especially with a new faceplate from Nyjol. But a Barons chrome tachometer is definitely on the mod list.
I hate the factory dash and I hate the ignition set up. Both will be gone before next riding season. Pulled everything apart last night with the ignition and figured out where I was going to mount it under the gas tank. One of these days I will have to post all my custom mods I have already done.

I couldn't stand the ignition either... so I just completely removed it and use the Digital Guard Dawg keyless ignition module. It is one the top mods I've done. The ignition switch was a NIGHTMARE to remove though.

Its a little pricey, but well worth it. I walk up to the bike with the fob in my pocket, flip the kill switch, press the start button, and drive away. Then when I park I just flip the kill switch and walk away. It kills the entire ignition so it can't be pop-started either. I rerouted all of the ignition connections on mine under the tank so it can't even be hot wired without removing the tank.

My friend has one of those on his sport bike and ever since he put it on has been having an issue that it kills the bike anytime he breaks 8k RPM. Make sure if you buy one, you buy it from someone who will warranty it, and not try and find the cheapest one you can. Other than that, I think its a cool concept, I just know I would lose the fob when I was drinking and have to walk, which I won't do.

I have no issues with mine at all. Digital Guard Dawg is a very good company... they aren't one of the fleabay $20 specials. These run around $450 (http://www.digitalguarddawg.com/MOTORCYCLE-KEYLESS-IGNITION-PG1.htm). I can't say I've had my bike above 8k, but RPM should not have ANY affect on the ignition system. It is simply a key-free ignition switch. It sounds like he has other issues.

The other nice thing is that if you ever lose, drop, or somehow misplace your fob, you can call D.G.D. and they can remotely activate your bike for you.

Our Strykers have a 6250 rpm Limiter so impossible to hit that 8000 without doing some limiter elimination mod.
