I'm sure this was discuss before. Just seem not to be able to find it. I'm planning to upgrade to a 240 or 250 Avon. So far I lowered the bike down 2" PCS and have the L&M solo seat. Love the way it feels and I don't want to move away from that stance to much. Ace tried to help me out on this but figure i throw out and see what everyone else says. If I mount a 240 or 250 how much would it raise the bike, and do I really need to grind away metal. Cause from what I saw on Ace's pic. He's all the way down with clearance with the 250. Sorry for these old questions

Niether one should alter you ride hight more than about a half inch. If the tire is about an inch taller total then you take half. Which would put you at just below a half inch hight difference using the numbers from the post SmokenJoe linked.

I thought the same boolshot. That's why I asked cause I hate to loose the stance that I have on the bike. But then again the look of a bigger tire makes the bike look perfect. Plus I like the way it rides with a wider tire. Buddy of mine runs a rocker c stocked with a 240. Rides good look good but has nothing on the striker.

I agree the wider tire looks better. I borrowed a friends Rocker C before I even knew I was getting a Stryker , to see how I liked riding a cruiser. The 240 will probably look a little narrower on our smaller rim. The Rocker comes with the 240, so I am sure the stock rim is wider.

Won't the tire be taller than the given dimensions because it is being squeezed onto a skinnier than suggested wheel ? Just a thought .

You would think so, but actually does not work that way. I took those measurements first hand.

It does. 2 taller giving the width of the rim. It's also taking away. 5 give or take contact of the road. Harleys put bicycle tires on therebikes so it shouldnt be a problem .

Yea I'll stay with the 240. Correct me if i'm wrong, I was looking at the rocker here at work. I don't think u can see that much of a difference between a 240 and a 250. At least with the 240 there's no cutting and grinding...

I'll add this....I put a 260 Metz on a 8.5" rim and lowered 1" on my Stryker. I did not take measrements on height before and after, but it feels like the same height and looks way better.

I was told by the builder that the original width rim would take the 250, but that it would "bubble" the tread up and narrow the contact patch. The contact patch is massive on the bike now.

You do know that it the wider tire is back there.
