I was thinking about getting lost this summer for a weekend with a friend of mine. After seeing some fully dressed HDs, I figured I would look into renting one, since it would be more comfortable. Yeah....with a $2k hold, plus rental, that won't happen anymore! Stryker it is!

I have looked into backrests, but at $300+ I will pass. I have no saddle bags, and I can only fit the bare minimum for 2 into a backpack. Any other options!?!

For a sissy bar bag you can't beat the Kuryakyn Grand Tour bag, you can easily pack 4-5 days worth of essentials in it, I have taken 2 trips, each in excess of 2k miles and had absolutely no issues, got caught in the rain without the rain cover and had no issues, truthfully I use zip lock bags anyways so I don't sweat it

Agreed, the Kuryakyn Gran Tour Bag is fantastic. You can attach it on the pillion without the need for a sissy bar. Then it becomes your driver's backrest as well!
