Was in Manistee this past weekend and rode from there to Traverse City on 31 and then took M22 back through Northport and back down. Not super twisty like MV but a beautiful ride. The final stretch was on 110 which is also very nice and right next to the lake.

If you are ever in that area I would highly recommend the ride.

Drove from Chicago to Manistee and then just rode on the roads. The ferry might have been cool but I wonder if you have to sit on your bike the entire time to keep it from falling over... Unless they have something to strap the bikes down to I'd be worried just relying on the kickstand in case the ferry rolled a little too much ;)

Then you probably came right by me. I'm in Holland, MI right where I-196 and US-31 split.

I have heard that on the ferry you can strap your bikes down, but you have to take your own straps.

Glad you had a nice ride!
Yep right past you. Friday night was fine(later so smooth sailing) but Monday afternoon sucked big time. All those flipping lights and everyone coming home :(

The key there Billy was you drove again. Then you rode around the area. When you going to get some iron b*tt and ride? :D

So did you take any pics of the bike out there. Because you know unless there are pics, it didn't happen. Near a sign that proves you were there.

The iron butt thing isn't going to happen; the trailer purchase is!!

As for signs/pictures, yes, I have one but it is on Kelley's BB phone(better service than me so took it on rides) and everything on a BB is more complicated. Will try and talk to her soon since I think she has gotten photos off the device but it might have involved human sacrifice...

And considering the epic journey home on I-94(stop and go ****) I'm pretty sure I would have lost the ability to clutch and that would have meant I would have either been stranded on the side of the road or worse

I did and I can give you the details on that. It's OK but the loading/unloading on the side(verses the center) made me nervous and basically required 2 people. A lot of cash for what I personally didn't consider a lot of trailer...

He has the Kendon, correct? Steve and I are actually looking at the Redline Drop Tail.

Is it the Kendon Fold up trailer - single rail or dual? with or without rock guard?

i've been looking at those for next year as well... they are pretty pricey! well for me that is.. I need the fold up -cause I've no place to "store" a traditional trailer. If I did - then I'd be looking at an enclosed one... but they are Really Pricey!

Yes it is fold up and yes it is pricey. You can get single or double(the double also has an option to center mount the bike). The rock guard is an option as well. If you go Kendon I would get the ride-on version because the one I borrowed only had the small ramp and you really need 2 people to load/unload it.

The one Patrice mentioned looks very similar but IMO is better(although it funky folds and not as flat).

Both are going to be right around 3K once you get the spare tire, rock guard, shipping, tax etc. Price you have to pay for portability...

Nope... but found out that they are selling for around $4k here in Indy:

Which look like a cheaper version of these...
http://www.ironhorsetrailers.com/
which go for over $6k

both of which are way too rich for me... but are pretty darn neat looking.

Sorry Bill for hijacking this thread into a trailer discussion! lol
