So I took my longest trip, so far, this weekend - 400 miles to visit family. It was mostly interstate and the ride was brutal. I have the stock seat and grips and no windshield. 6 hours on that stock seat was a pain in the @$$ and the wind on me at 70-80 mph was nearly pushing me off the bike. The stock grips were a pain on my hands as well, not surprising since I was holding on for dear life. And wearing my half-helmet didn't help either.

I also got a speeding ticket in Austin - 69 in a 60.

Anyway, I'll be getting an aftermarket seat, windshield, and grips before I go on a long ride again.

I ride 3hrs a day everytime I ride it to work. Starting to leave the morning gear at work and riding home with the half helmet, alot better on the back then stuffing it in the backpack for an hour 1/2. I think the seating position will be better with different bars, but I know how you feel, been debating a trip to so-cal for a visit think I'll take lots o breaks!

the wife and I took the bike to Concan, Tx last weekend from Houston left Saturday morning and drove back Sunday morning 700 mile round trip. Over a week later and my ass still hurts. lol We took back roads to there since it was early morning but on the way back the wife piddled around so we didn't get on the road til around noon. It was a HOT ride back so I decided to take I-10 back I was flying the whole way back averaging around 85 mph's to help stay cool. I have a 22 inch windshield and it made the drive a lot better I didn't get fatigued plus I wore a full helmet to keep the wind off of my face and it kept me cooler I also wore gloves to save my hands

i'm actually pretty comfortable so far with the seat and the stock grips so far.. albeit the wind i just ignore it. i bought me a half helmet with goggles (i'll post pics on that other thread).. but i'm used to it if i ride for at least the day. the only gripe is the wife.. she just hates the passenger seat for more than the hour.

so.. in saying that.. can someone send me the link to the Mustang seat site? she says after my pipes thats the next mod. and plus they look sweet unless someone else has a different solution with the seat.. and not ditching the wife. lol

I hear ya. I rode back home saturday afternoon from 5 - 8 and this heat is killer. To me it feels the same whether I'm doing 50 or 80.

Notice how easy it is do 80-90 on this bike without even thinking about it. ;)
