I've seen a couple people running aftermarket exhaust with a stock air cleaner with no tuner. Is this safe to do. I thought it was a Must have thing.
I think that sell is a decent upgrade. I would be a valuable dyno to have someone get one with those mods and no tuner. All bikes are different, but it would give someone a reasonable idea of where one stood with those modsarchaic2021 said:Sweet thanks guys, I guess the salesmen was just trying to sell a little more haha.

Been saying this for a while now. No tuner needed when pipes and filter are added. Bike is fuel injected and will compensate for differences.skwerlee said:HHHMMMMMMMMMM MMMMM?SmokenJOE said:HHHMMMMMMMMMMskwerlee said:I have the Big Radius with a K&N filter and she runs great with no tuner.
yes sir i agree...heck i think the oem paper filter flows about as much as the K&N does. Now if i had a aftermarket air intake or even a modded airbox then yes i'd definitely need to look into some fuel management.SmokenJOE said:Been saying this for a while now. Saved a bunch of money for more modes. 8)
Bet you wouldn't. If you add one, run without tuning and give opinions. I'd be very curious to find out.skwerlee said:yes sir i agree...heck i think the oem paper filter flows about as much as the K&N does. Thanks, very good to know. Pipes turning slight yellowish tint usually means a lean conditions, right?Rodekill said:My bike ran fine with just the exhaust changed, but when I added an aftermarket air cleaner it was a no go. It sounded and ran fine when I first started it, but when it started to warm up it ran so lean it would stutter and pop unless I was hard on the throttle, and it even tried to die at idle. I noticed my pipes began to turn a slight yellowish tint straight out of the head under the heat shield as well, and they were bluish before. I rode it VERY little until my tuner was installed for that very reason. I guess every bike is different, but be careful and keep an eye on it.
Not sure, as I've read conflicting info regarding the color and what it means. Everything else indicated it was far too lean though, and the heat from the engine seemed to be much hotter and it warmed up more quickly than it did before.SmokenJOE said:Thanks, very good to know.
