Sad day- Well rode bike to pick up parts at another shop during my lunch today and on the way back- I did notice handling was alittle off and seemed to take more power to get er down the road. Parked bike in shop and went back to work. End of day when I try to maneuver bike around to take back out the door and I could barely move it. FLAT REAR TIRE!!! Well called dealer and did not have a 250 Avon, but they do have the new Michelin 240. So I said put my name on it. Took rear wheel off tonight and will take to dealer in morning to get the new tire on. Found 5/16"x 3/4" strip of metal through tire in center of tread. On a good note-Dealer said they have never had a flat Michelin tire.

Good day- Could not have happened in a better place!

Glad to hear your tire didn't go flat while riding. Like you said it happened in a good place. Looks like you get to try of the new Michelin.

Rim ok and everything?
Yes rim is fine. Tire was still sealed to rim. XVS13's 210 went flat and came loose from rim and still kept rim from hitting ground.

Yes, going to drop back to the 240 club. The center of the 250 was wearing pretty good. Not to many twisties around here in normal travels.

I also am putting new rear brake pads on. I use rear brakes more than front in everyday driving. Bad Habit- I know! HEHE

That sucks 11Stryker. But as Patrice said, better than having a flat while riding. I had a front go flat at around 45mph on a previous bike and it was no picnic. Trying to get it stopped and the more I slowed down the worse it got. Let us know how you like the new Michelin.

That bites 11. Glad it didn't empty while on the road. I added ride on to my rear wheel hoping to never find out if the stuff works. Lol.... Did you get measurements of the new tire? Curious how it stacks up against the cobra 240. Will definitely be looking out for your feedback on this tire.

Toby loves his michelin 240 ... I am going to stick with the 210 size... I figure if I can get 5k miles out of my stock tire I will just keep putting bridgestone on, they cost less and I wouldn't get any more miles out of a metzler up here... I have 1700 miles on my stock tire so far and it seems to be holding up ok.
I have a sinking feeling tho that I will need a new rear tire before the season is over LOL

In the beginning of your post it sounded like you were leading up to bad performance from pipes/tuner finally :yuck: Glad the flat didn't turn out worse.

I had a rear tire go flat on me traveling to Hampton Beach in NH. My buddy and I were going up I-495, and I noticed the rear end getting a little squirrely (or should I say skwerlee!). Pulled off the highway to a gas station, rear tire was nearly flat. Filled it with air and got back on the road. About 1/2 later, a$$ end is loose again, lane changes really suck. Pulled off the road again. tire was almost flat again. Ended up having to pull off the rear wheel at a rest stop with the tools I had in my tool bag (and a rock!) Rode on the back of his sporty carrying my rim to the nearest tire place that sold MC tubes, had them put one in, and then go back to the rest stop to put it back on (hoping my bike was still there). Those little tool bags do work :thumb:

Holy crap! lol
I had no idea you could pull your rear wheel off with just what is in that teensy tool bag lol
This is why I carry a full tire plug kit and air pump in my saddlebag ;) I am paranoid about getting a flat out here in the hills.

That's why I needed a rock. It had a wrench to fit the axle nut, but it was only about 5 inches long..and no way I was going to break it loose with just my hand. Had to tighten it the same way. That's one of the reasons why I'm not a freak about torque specs. Rode that bike without touching the rear end again for the rest of the year..no problems.

Glad you had an easy time with the flat 11Stryker.
I wasn't so lucky with my first flat. Happened in San Diego on my second Bridgestone 210 at about 2,700 miles. It was looking like I could have 1,500 more miles off it but got a chunk of metal in it. No way to patch it. On a Sunday in the mountains at a gas station in Julian. Had to have it towed to a bike shop in SD. Had them swap out with Metzler front and rear 240.
The second flat, with less than 2,000 miles on the new Metz, I was a little more lucky. I rolled over a piece of hard plastic with a sharp point on it at a gas station in these mountains.. Put a tinny slice and slow leak. The store had green slime. The slime got me home but it started leaking every other day. I would just spin the tire so the slime would seal it and put more air in it. Slime does what it says it will do. The problem was the tip of the plastic broke off in the tire where I couldn't see it and would keep cutting through the slime. So I finally had to push it into the tire, round off the hole and plug it. The Plug out lasted the life of the tire.
Real happy so far with the Michelin. Have almost 3,500 miles on it and it looks pretty good still. Showing some wear but no where near like any of the others. So I think I will get at least 5k out of it and maybe even 6k or more, we will see. I'll be surprised if I get more than that though. But that's a lot more than the other brands. You guys out there on smooth roads with not too many twisties should get 15k to 20k off the Michelins:nod:

Got it on the bike today. Still sets at shop. I was all oily clothed after work and was raining at the time. Will go back later and bring her home. I did measure the height with it on my 8" PM rear wheel with 41 lbs air. 25-3/8" height.
