Hey guys...I know the Star bags are only like 9" high but I was wondering what the max height the bags can be and still clear the exhaust. I don;t mind them being above the fender line as long as the wife isn't resting her legs on them for the entire ride. The bags I am looking at are 12" high, hard bags.

No one has any thoughts/opinions on this? I'm gonna have them Quick release just like the backrest, and windshield so that I can go from touring mode to street mode very easily.

someone posted up a pic of some soft saddle bags acouple of days ago and I checked the measurement of the bags and they were 11 inches high and it looked like they still had about 2 inches of clearance off of the exhaust and it hung down about a inch or so lower then the seat so you should be good. When you get them post up some pics

Sweet. Anyone have any experience with the hard Plastic saddle bags vs the Fibreglass ones. The Plastics are a fraction of the price but I don't wanna waste the money if they are gonna suck.

The hard plastic bags are cheap and thin and flimsy but the don't seem to break. My buddy bought a set.
I would try them out only cuz I am in my thirties and not 8yrs old..lol. I think an eight year old would break them, I wouldn't.
My opinion would be soft textiles...
I think these are River Road throwovers. Not my bike but when I went in to order my black one I threw these over the bike. I liked them at first but decided I will hold off on buying any for now. Not sold so far...lol.. flame me now

I was also looking at saddlebags and wanted hard sided- most of the ones I looked at came in at about 12 1/2 to 12 3/4 inches high- I made some scale drawings of the bags based on pics and made some paper templates and with the stock exhaust it was really really close without throwing the bags up way to high. that being said I just had set of cobra swept exhaust put on so that takes care of the clearance issue. I order a set of hard sided gloss bags from HardStreet Bags in Ohio. Got them in yesterday and they are fantastic looking. Had already ordered and recv a set of Edge/Ghost brackets but I am not sure if they are going to work on the Stryker or not - at least with the factory back rest. I called Edge Mfg before I ordered them and sent them the link to the Yamaha back rest and they assured me the Edge Brackets for the Raider would fit. The problem is that the bolts they sent are about 1/4 - 1/2 in to short. They are metric M8 X 1.25 and are about 2 1/2 inches long and as far as I have been able to tell - this is as long a bolt in this thread size you can get? Plus - trying to put the Edge Quick Disconnect mounting bolts on I cross threaded on of the bolt holes in my fender tonight :-( Hardstreet makes a mounting bracket for their bags that are "universal and adjustable" but they are not quick disconnect which is what I really want...... Sigh..........

These are the bags I am thinking about. The measurements are 17" Long x 12" High x 6.5" Wide. The lights can be wire for brake, signal, or running. I think they would look great on the bike. The other ones I was thinking about were the saddlemens teardrop but I think I like the hard glossy bags better.

My two cents - Don't go with the tear drops from saddleman - They where the first ones I ordered cause I knew they would fit the stock exhaust and they looked good. Got them and the looked good but a) they will not work (or at least not work well with the edge quick disconnect and the support they send are not ideal either) and b) the way the lid attaches is horrible IMHO. They use velcro in several places and when you close the lid the velcro on the back(by where the lid hinges) sticks first so you have to pull out the side of the lid with one hand so it does not stick while you then use the other hand to close the lid flush. Maybe the velcro will become less sticky over time but ?? I sent them back and decided to order the HardStree bags.

I also spent a lot of time looking at and researching the LN series bags. I found a lot of negative stuff but you know how that goes - people are quicker to post negative stuff and very seldom positive so YMMV. I really like the way they looked though so if you get them please give us a review/pics even though I have already recv my Hardstreet bags. Hope to get them on next weekend and will post some pics then. Good luck!

I found some reviews on the LN bags after and they were all negative which sucks because I really like the look. I saw a lot of people say they were flimsy. One guy ended up putting a piece of 1/4 plate alum inside and outside the bags on the mounting side. Said it made them a lot better.

I also am unsure about the side opening feature. seems like stuff would just fall out when you open the bags, especially the stand side?

I'm torn, I really like the look but the function seems to be sub par

I decided against the Mutazu ones. I saw a set in person and did not like the way they looked, plus I read a lot of bad press on them. I just ordered the Tsukayu QR Strong Bags today. I don't know if anyone has these yet but they assured me they would fit with the new V&H Big Radius 2-2 pipes

I ordered the bags from a local shop here in Canada. Gave me a little better deal than I could have got straight through Tsukayu and I get to support my local vendors.

I'll post pics in a few weeks once everything is done. I have the exhaust but need to send it out to be ceramic coated black before I install it. The bags were just ordered yesterday so it'll be a little while before they arrive

I think you'll love the Coner bags deja. I wanted those first but was told they wouldn't fit the Stryker :(
