This is my Scootmod sidemount plate. The leds are super bright. It has a bolt that goes through the axle. The bracket is shaped like the axle nut and slips right over it so plate does not slip around and stays in place.

I managed to pull it off with only wire showing is on the back by the plate, ran it under belt cover an up middle of bike to under the seat. Like the clean look with having wire ties showing so much.

This is where I have always mounted my inspection sticke and I am from Texas. In Texas it is supposed to be under the plate....well it is REALLY under the plate. Have never had any problems in 6 years of riding.

I got this one Ebay for $99. It is made out of aluminum and powder coated black. I ran the wire under the swing arm. I used one wire tie at the plate and another one at the front of the swing arm and have it pulled tight. Then ran it straight up under the seat and spliced into the wires that run to the rear lights. It is not close to the belt. I just dont like seeing the wire ties if I can avoid it. Thanks Straightjacket. Raven I took a pic and will post shortly of where it runs under the swing arm.

It came powdercoated. On the mount, it has a long threaded rod that goes through the hollow axle. It has a lock nut on one side and a lock washer and nut for the other side. The bracket slides over the hex axle nut and then you put nut and lock nut on it to hold it in place. I should have taken pictures when I did it. Took about 2 min to mount it. And about 20 for the wiring. So simple I could do it.....

2012 Raven look at the picture above that has the shot under the swing arm. You can see where the bracket slides over the hex axle nut and the finished head nut is holding it on, the nut screws onto the long threaded bolt that goes all the way through to the other side of the bike. Hope I explained that right.

Well I just got the same license plate, but have an issue. I should start by saying I have the Cobra Swept exhaust and the lowering spring from Low and Mean. With this combination the center of the axle rod is right in the middle of the exhaust pipe. There is minimalroom between the exhaust pipe and the axle rod, small enough that the lock nut is too thick. I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow to see if I can get a regular nut that is a little bit thinner. I may also have to put spacer brackets on the bottom connection plate for the exhaust to try and push the exhaust out a little more. I just need about an 1/8".

The design of this plate is super easy, however with a few modifications it makes it difficult. So just a bit of a warning!

I found a fix. At the hardware store I found a "slim" lock nut. It was about half the width of the standard one. This helped the siutation but didn't totally fix it. I then put a few washers between the rear exhaust plate and the bracket. this at least holds the exhaust another 1/8". Between theses two items I have a very slight gap (1/16") between the lock nut and the exhaust pipe. With a rider on the bike it gives it more room. So I think I should be good but I will keep an eye on it.

The bracket and light is very nice and is typical of Scootmod construction (I have his forward extensions). Ill post some pictures later.

i just used a saber saw with a metal blade. The plastic was no problem and the metal bracket was not hard to cut through either. I just cut the plastic right below the light (i.e. right along the bottom contour of the light). If you have specific questions just let me know.

Got a question for ya. When you added side license plate what/how did you cut the bottom of the duck bill ?

Thanks for any tips.
Do a search on cutting this off, there are several variations on how to do it, I cut mine off while on the bike and others went as far as removing the whole rear fender and we've all used various cutting instruments
