I'm really thinking hard about selling my Stryker and getting a Ducati Diavel for the Fall. I just haven't been riding that much after a move to a more urban environment. The Stryker just doesn't like the "slow, 'round town" stuff. Not sure what I will do. Love this bike out on the open roads. Still like the looks. Wife hates to ride with me for comfort reasons.

BTW, I've been around here since 2012 and had almost 170 posts. Now can't pust under the old godeepwvu name and created a new one. Tried to get ideas from the admins, but no one seemed to be able to help.

Bike is a 2011 with Widened rear rim and a 260 Metzler on it. Chromed front and rear wheels. Polished rotors and pulley. Barons Lowering Links set at 1". Speigler braided brake lines.

You should check out the new Yamaha Star Bolt. I sat on one the other day and that thing would be awesome for urban environments. It's a **** of a lot more affordable and reliable than a Ducati.

PS I'd love to have your widened rear wheel and 260!!

You could always do the 30t pulley swap, I will be doing it as soon as I can find one on ebay. That way my bike will behave better in these hills. I just don't have Toby's skill with the clutch to keep my bike happy in all the slow going lol

You have a Diavel, too? I think that would be interesting, but I'm not sure how much time the Stryker would get.

Do some research before you make the jump. I was about 90% sure my next bike was going to be a diavel until I did some research and found out about issues where the motor would stall coming from 2nd to first at a light and plauging quite a few riders with no resolution by Ducati. There was also some other issues as well with the bike but as most Ducati owners would say...these are the intricacies that come with the territory. For about 17k I didn't want to be bothered nor did I want to make a car payment for a recreational hobby that I enjoy.

Instead I actually bought an fz8 this year..'rode it for about 300 miles wasnt all that pleased...took the stryker for a ride and ended up extremely smitten with my purchase after trading the Fz8 in on it.

I think the stryker needs two things to be completely satisfactory from as stock build....the first is a 30 tooth pulley for town riding and the other is a better seat. Both in my opinion are cheap and come with the territory of preference when A new user buys as bike. If pales in comparison to what my concours needed and I always thought that was a great bike.

Don't get me wrong...the diavel is nice good looking bike...but my friend that I ride with often has both as street fighter and a multistrada and previously a hypermotard and he believes they aren't for people that don't like intricacies...in his own words. Not to mention after buying the bike from a local dealer they go out of their way to always make the most basic service look like they are doing him a favor just by taking his business. They only get away with that shiot because they are the only game in town for At least 80+ miles and they know there aren't other choices. I'm literally astounded every time I go in the shop with him due to how they treat their customers. For example the one time he brought his bike in for a fix and they reversed his blinker lights on him.... by far showing their incompetence but without any apologies. When he brought it up they literally shrugged it off.... not even a sorry... the only reason he went back is they neglected to put his battery holder strap back on after the service and never made good on getting him another one... he fought and followed up for weeks and they just dropped the ball every time till he gave up.

Outside of service I've seen...neither bike is going to be comfortable for the ladies (so take that of of your comparison) but I'd have to imagine the stryker by far would have the upper hand and that's saying a lot. I believe if town riding is your interest your be better off just getting a 100 dollar pulley and seeing where that went for you.... it would be a far cheaper experiment than spending 50 buck's in gas to get to your nearest ducati dealer for service or for the test ride.

With that said i love working on bikes...just not on one's I'm paying 18k to ride with the hope that'll it'll last me years. I also want a dealer to back me when I have issues or at least have reasonable options to persue another in the event I have a crappy experience.

I test rode the diavel. It is cool. Only thing is that it is not comfortable for 2 up riding. Even though a cruiser class it does not ride like one. If you are getting one you might as well pay same price for a Harley breakout 103. Or pay 26000 for the breakout. I like diavel but there's not fuel gauge on bike and this is why I did not buy it. I hate using miles only to determine gas especially when I needed to ride like I stole it....just my opinion,...own both. Your stryker is bad

No fuel gauge for a 18k bike? Even the mopeds have a fuel gauge. That sucks..
