Looking at putting a shinko 240 on the rear , anyone ever use a shinko , if so is it worth the savings , they have them for 168.00 right now.

Never used one, don't know anyone that has. But I can tell you that after reading the reviews and seeing the ratings of that brand I never will.

The Shinko 005 is the next tire I am going to get... My buddy has a 240 on his big dog... it is a great tire... nice compound. I believe he has 5000 miles on it and it has very little visable wear.

What does that mean? The only thing I have heard about them is that they wear fast but I have no first or second hand experience. I am due for a tire right now and would love to pick this up at the price but afraid of wasting my money. I only got a little over 5k on the stocker so hoping to get more out of my next tire.

They talked about the TRACK performance...We run CRUISERS. I push my bike pretty hard in the corners.. I can say I hit the pegs LONG before I use up the sidewall on the tire. It is an awesome cruiser tire... it has the smallest overall diameter of all the 240's (yes, it does). I am sure it has its shortcomings on the track... but for a daily runner... the price is right, the compound is right and the fit is right... how many rights do we really need???

I'm still seeing reviews from people that say between 3 and 5k miles off these tires. As you know I have been able to ware name brands out in 3k to 7k on all my bikes. I,m at over 4k on the Metz on my Stryker and near 7k on the 950 also Metz Don't think either one is going to see 2k more miles before ware bars. Not going to chance putting a tire on my bikes that others are getting low miles on that probobly do not even see the type roads I ride. I'd probobly burn on of those up in less than 2k miles.

Toby... the 1st youtube was for a Shinko 777 tire.. they are known to be the "budget" shinko... The second link.. was the one I also posted... again.. sportbike on a track being pushed real hard... 3rd link is for shinko 009 touring tire... They guy gives it a great review.... the tire the guy who started this thread was talking about a Shinko 005 advance tire... If anybody burns up a tire in less than 3000 miles... he is riding WAYYY past the bikes intended use... for real... My stock tire has 7000 miles and shows almost no real signes of wear... and yes.. I was raised on Yamaha crotch rockets and I feel like I push my STRYKER pretty hard in the twisties... yet, I have alsmost no wear.... Who here really ran out of tire before 5000 miles?? Short of doing burnouts and skids, the tire should last 4-6000 miles!!! Easily.
BUT.. all this being said ... it is truly user preference... chevy over ford... goodyear over firestone... cruiser over crotchrocket..... $275.00 over $165.00... etc....

Ya I just pulled up a few links to read some reviews, My earlier research on tires found more negative reviews on Shinko than good for the size tires we need.

I'm not sure if any one but me on this forum has worn tires out that fast but the guy at the v Twin shop says he has seen Bridgestone bald with less miles than mine. I guess you have not followed my post on tire wear. The first 2 months I had my bike I wore the rear completely bald on the sides first then in the middle paper thin in 3,100 I'll post pics.
I by no means rode it beyond it's design capabilities. I hadn't even got used to the bike yet. It's just the roads where I live will exploit any weakness that any vehicle has. Tires and brakes especially. Might I ad that where I live is nothing but extreme twisties.

Might I ad that where I live is nothing but extreme twisties. Like I said Metz seams to fair better than any other tires I've used but their still wearing out in less than 8k on my other bikes and it looks like I won't get 6k on my Stryker. Still looking for something better. Not a lot of choices yet for the Stryker but Michelin makes a Commander 2 now that will fit the 950. They say it's a 25k mile tire. We plan on putting to the test up here hehehe. I'm going to try Avon next on my Stryker.

I used a couple of Shinko tires on my Shadow, though I only put a couple thousand miles on them before I got rid of the bike. Didn't really have much wear at that point.. I wouldn't shy away from them if I didn't have a General gmax on mine . I understood they were a really good brand, just marketed more for crotch rockets...

There fine just not the best out there. If you can get them at a Good price then go for it.
