So I already had the plate relocated to the side, but now finished off with a nice black frame with LEDs. Bought at Mean Cycles Miami for 25 bucks. Wired to tail fuse (+) and the frame (ground). Wiring 'glued' underneath swing arm with 3M double sided molding tape.

Before and after:

some will use the LED strips sold in auto parts stores. I used those
bendable type where you can cut to length, or use a windshield washer
LED light, they seem to have the right angle and cover the back side
so they dont blind the person behind you.

Yes LEDs are built in. See pics. Not sticking out to far, but if you want vertical just get the vertical version of the mount I have ($25 @ road6customs.com) and use the same frame I have ($25 @ meancycles.com). This would be legal in florida as well, but just liking horizontal more.

Ok. The plate holder comes from road6customs.com SKU#00040

The plate frame, which has the LEDs built in, come from meancycles.com on the invoice gives me an item lookup code: TU496683

Just call those guys up, those two places I mentioned are very customer friendly.

On a slightly related subject: Can anyone tell me where I might check local state laws for the mounting position for plates? Ive been looking around (Due to a desire to show off our awesome rear tire) but I cant seem to find anywhere for a law pertaining to it (in Arkansas at least). Any advice? :-[

Found this on Arkansas DMV site:

Motorcycle Laws
The motorcycle laws are designed to keep you safe. It's easy to see how motorcycles can be dangerous and nobody wants to wreck. The state has compiled accident statistics online for your information.

You are required to wear goggles or a transparent face shield whenever you drive your motorcycle. All passengers who ride with you need to have foot and arm rests―it's the law.

Helmets are a recommended safety measure and a worthwhile investment, but in Arkansas you are only required to wear one if you're 21 years or younger. Be sure to check other state laws if you travel; helmets are required in most states.

Your motorcycle must have a good working exhaust system and electrical system for signaling. Your bike must also have a plate attached listing the engine capacity, and a mounting spot for your tags on the back.

A licensed motorcycle driver must drive your bike to the testing site―when you apply for your motorcycle license―but if you study and practice you should be able to ride it home.

do you know if they sell any that will fit Canada's larger motorcycle licence plate?
I bought the Road6 plate and installed it on my Canadian Bike. Just have to drill a extra hole in your licence plate so it lines up
ive already made a custom bracket, all im looking for is an led plate cover
You can do like me, I bought Kuryakyn LED bolts and used them to screw on my plate $20. Or if you want a lighted plate cover RADIANTZ makes a really nice Chrome Cast LED Licence plate Frame. I think it goes for around $80, but saw it on CruiserCustomizing web site for $30
