I realize this could be a sensitive topic but am interested to hear the thoughts from everyone.

What are your thoughts of parking on the sidewalk? Any rules towards it at all like, only if there aren't any available parking spaces, never ever, or only at events if not blocking Accessibility?

I'll do it at certain places if I see another bike there, or if I've seen bikes parked there in the past. But normally I just park in the normal parking spaces with my bike sticking out far enough that it can be seen so some jag-off doesn't go whipping in thinking the spot is open.

I will park on the sidewalk if there is a large space like at Bestbuy or something. At Lowes I park in the no parking zone at the end of the lanes.

+2. If its at store out of the way of foot traffic like at Home Depot where the space between the exit and entrance doors are quite large. These parking lots normally have large trucks and I don't want compete with the idiots in the parking lot and the local "Mow and Blow guy" with mulch pilled so high they can't see out the back. Plus the last thing I need is one of those huge metal Orange carts used for large items to go rolling off into my bike.

+1 and also at Menards
same as others here... luckily my work has bike parking in the garage so don't worry there.. most of the stores I go to have big enough areas to park in away from foot traffic..

don't think you have to worry about being towed too much, especially if your forks are locked, must tow companies don't want to mess with it
has anyone had their bike towed?

I nvr have... just wondering...

So...tell us. When is the little baby Stryker due???
I do it at the bar! :D

Most times I park in a spot, but the occasional sidewalk happens if it is a full lot
Good answer WES!

No more baby strikers! Too late for that, I had a crossbar installed on the pipes!

I park the bike on the sidewalk...right next to my car. :D

Seriously, it would depend on the situation. Most of the time, a full parking space in the parking lot is good. I have no aversion to walking so I don't have to be next to the door.
I park up on the sidewalk tucked up against the front window at the 2 breweries I go to regularly for 2 reasons; 1) so I can keep an eye on it from the bar, 2) it’s REALLY fun to watch most everyone that comes/goes checking out the Stryker and commenting on it. And of course I checked with the managers first and they said no problem as long as I wasn’t revving it up and annoying the customers (I always cost her off the sidewalk before staring up).
Well the only bar I usually frequent is a biker bar, and I am a regular, so if the line looks like below (which you can see I am parked in the row of bikes) I will go on the sidwalk!

I think you should be a 1%er and park nose in next time :biggrin1:
Side walks are public access for pedestrians on foot in Cali and it is illegal to park a motorized vehicle on it. A portion of a side walk directly in front of a rented, leased or owned building is privet property and with permission from the owner you can park on it as long as your bike is not obstructing pedestrians. I have pulled my bike up in front of the karate studio front window in San Diego when there was no spot on the street where I could see my bike.
