I was riding into work when out of the corner of my left eye, I saw a furry blur dart out from the ditch. It hit my left foot and shifter. I was doing 50mph and thank god I was wearing steel toe boots. My foot hurt all the way into work. If I had not had my steel toe boots on it would probably have broken some toes. I will have to readjust my shifter lever when I get home tonight as the impact moved it up a bit. Had rabbit goo on the side of my engine that I had to clean off when I got to work along with some fur on my shifter. It certainly woke me up this morning.

I've been fortunate that I've never hit an animal on a bike. I did, however, have a vulture fly into the windshield of a van going about 70 mph on a highway in Texas a few years back. (The van was going 70, not the vulture. :) ) It was on the highway picking over something and just mistimed its escape.

In my dad’s younger days he and his buddies were heading home from a weekend of fun at the lake. They were all on their bikes cruising down the highway and one of the guys took a big black crow square in the chest. He had a leather jacket on but the beak still imbedded in his sternum…he had to have it surgically removed…that’s not **** either.

I've always wondered how hard it would be to keep up from something like that. We have lots of box turtles around here out in the road basking, I figured it would be a bike wrecker if I hit one.

I had a bird fly into my right leg about a week before I wrecked my bike, all I could think of is "who does that" lol.

Glad you're ok.

That's reason #2 out of 3 why I have engine Guards.

Not once ... but twice ... I hit birds crossing the road between fields at over 100 MPH on my CBR 929.

The first time it hits the little windshield ...

But the second time it exploded right in the middle of my face. I was wearing a full helmet and blood exploded all over the glass. The impact was not really violent. I guess that they are so light ... but still I had to stop on the side of the road to clean up that mess since I was seeing ****!

Well, I took a direct hit on my chin from a Yellow Jacket yesterday. It rebounded onto the face of the speedometer stunned for a few moments and then flew off. No damaged to my chin. Also, a dog lay in wait for me to come by and then took off after my leg but the Stryker outgunned him and left him with no leg to eat. :p

I've been stung by bees in the face a few times & had a bird smack into my helmet once when I was go 80+mph but it wasn't messy. I hate it when those big fat juicy bugs hit you dead on, that's when I'm thankful I actual had the full face shield down....

I've had several close calls with all sorts of wild animals. The only one that really freaked me out was then I ran across a black bear on a side road up a mountain.
