i cut off the big pieces with a cut off wheel on my 4" grinder. Then I shaped it with a sanding pad and a rotory file. Then I chain drilled the holes and cleaned then up with a pnuematic grinder and a hand file. I haven't tried it on the bike yet. I made a side mount for the license plate. I'm just trying to figure out what i'm going to do about the lights. I have some ideas i'm kicking around but nothing is etched in stone.

Very nice. I'd be worried about the tail portion however. I believe its going to get soft with time and will crack or break off. I'd shorten it and round it off to prevent that from happening. Tail light you may have to do what Nyjol did. Really nice cutting.

Nice work. I have a used fender on the way and i'm doing the same thing. I plan on mounting the lights to the side of the fender and use a run/turn/brake control so it just has the two lights on the sides. post pics and we can compare notes. It's a long winter up here so I have plenty of time to work on mine.

So I tried the fender on the bike today. I'm just not feeling it right now. Maybe it will look better once I go to a 250 tire on an 8.5" wheel. But for right now it just has too much space and not enough to fill it. That and the lines just aren't talking to me.

Great idea, but looks like you could have maybe only taken 1/2 what you did. Trial & error- we've all been there.

I wanted to do the same kinda thing with my fender, but was going to leave it a lot longer. I was going to start cutting a lot farter down. Doesn't L&M have the LED light bars for the rear? That's what I was looking at for rear lights, maybe.

The only way this is going to work is to figure out a way to mount it to the swingarm then cutting off the rear sub-frame all together. A fender like this only looks good if its hugging the tire. Whether or not you're willing to go that far ....
