Just got my Star Tall QR backrest, pad and luggage rack from Yamahasportsplaza.
Install is super easy but . . . WTF with the lock?
There is no key listed on the parts list that comes with the backrest.
the Yammi bike key fits the lock but will not turn it to lock it.
Am I missing something? I only spent about 5 minutes fussing with it after install, then had to do some client work.
I'll get back to it tonight.
Bottom line for those that have the Quick Release "Does the bike key operate the QR on the back rest for you?

There is NOTHING in the instructions about the lock at all.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance . . . . . .

The backrest is shipped with a key I think mine was taped to the inside of the backrest by the lock or it was in the packaging I got a windshield at the same time and it was one or the other it looks exactly like the bike key you get 2 keys with it

Thanx Stryker for confirming there should be keys . . . . . . TADA! there is!?!
I had filtered through all of the very well packaged parts to no avail. Then thanx to your comeback I went and looked at the boxes and there they were bottom of the box almost taped under the inside flap, very easy to miss since all of the other parts were bagged and packed so well.

Something to consider, I went to a local locksmith and had the backrest lock changed to work with the ignition key, I was always getting the keys mixed up, now no more problem. It cost me $20 I think, worth it to me.

its very easy to re key yourself. two screw in the back of the lock and the cylinder slides out then a pair of needle nose you can pull the wafers out and just play around with them till you get it close. put you ignition key in and file down the ones that stick out while it key is in it.
