So yesterday I washed and waxed the bike and then drove it to Watkins Glen which is about 20-25 miles one way, I now have 1100 miles on the bike. I went to take it for a spin this morning and it wouldn't start. It was in neutral, stand down, flipped the switch and hit the start button and it just kept rolling over. I twisted the throttle and hit the start button it started right up. The next time had the same thing happen but I noticed the fuel gauge only had one notch. Could it possibly be that low on fuel while shifted to the side that it wouldn't start?

No, you have an auxialry" god my spelling sucks" tank, side stand shouldn't matter. More likely need to check side stand switch, or make sure it's really in neutral?

Maybe you waxed it too much and its really happy and wants to be held? ;D Ya, I've had a couple beers

Mine does something close to the same, maybe a different duration though. Sometimes it starts right up, others it will crank a couple secs then I automatically hit the throttle. Never let it crank over to see how long it would go before starting if I didn't twist it.

Ok, I'm awake and sober now, I too have had this issue before, I think it is just a characteristic of the bike. I have the auto tuner as well which is supposed to cure anything fuel and air related. I wouldn't sweat it.

I had a strange issue the other day. Started up my bike and it took a few seconds then finally turned over but sounded and felt like a misfire. About 2 Miles down the road the speedo was WAY off and it still sounded funny to me so I stopped to check out what was going on and I saw some above my heads! I shut off the bike for a few seconds, tried to start it back up to take it home but then it ran just fine and no more smoke. I have an auto tuner and did just finish playing with WD40 to take off the goo from my gas cap cover.. so thats probably what the problems were.. riding fine now:D I love this bike ;D

I had that happen only once last summer. I found that you should let gauge do its sweep and then start it. Time it happened to me I quickly turn switch on and then hit start button immediatly and just cranked and would not start. turned key off and then back on- let lights and guage initialize and worked fine. I think the fuel injection needs those few seconds to ready up.

Thats true. Good point! The injectors do need to be primed.

I've only had one starting issue, and that was after getting gas at 7-11. Bought some fuel stabilizer and that fixed it. So my guess is bad gas or, perhaps, some other small amount of liquid gunk got mixed in and it just needs to be diluted with a full tank of fuel. Otherwise I've not had any more starting issues.

Mines done this before. If I hit the switchto start the bike and my finger slipped off before it could start, when I pushed it again it would just turn over. Then like what most have said I gave it a little thottle and it started right up. It has only done it a couple of times. But when I first got the bike I was worried something might be wrong. It hasn't done it in forever so I guess the circumstances have to be just right.

I think I read that if you turn the key off and on it resets the System.
This has happened to me once or twice if it stalls when I first start it and it's not warmed up I have to give it gas to get it to start and it sputters a bit but then runs fine. If I turn the key off and back on before hitting the stater that doesn't happen.
I usually let it warm a second or two before I move it when the weather is cold.

I noticed the hard start after installing the auto tunner and my LEDs. I think this maybe same for most. the more things plugged in then a lagg. I changed my spark plugs at 8000 miles so definitely not the cause. I am not sure but does everyone have additional items plugged to battery?
