Here is a mod many will most likely have no need for.
I have readjusted the steering head bearings and re-greased them, but I personally hate Yamaha's ball bearings. I am going to replace them with "All Balls" tapered ball bearings, (#22-1004). The stock ball bearings have a tendency to become notchy after a while.
I have done this mod on my other Yamaha's and really I feel it is worth it for a smooth long term trouble free handling of the bike.

I looked at the All Balls web site and it looks like the Virago uses the same head bearings as the Stryker. The site also has a section for fork swaps.
